Review:

Animation and Art style: The 2018 reboot of this anime series has impeccable animation. It really was a tall order, animating the interstellar fights, the environment and all the numerous characters but I have to say, they delivered. The animation itself gets this anime a 9/10. Really no faults here.

The manga itself does not fall behind. The art is very detailed and has a lot of life to it. No faults here too.

Plot: Call me biased but the novels have one of the best plots I've ever seen and read. In fact, the Legend of The Galactic Heroes novel series in one of the best books I've read in my entire life. The two opposing sides represent two different styles of governance and the consequences that come with them both.

The Free Planet Alliance represent the democratic style of ruling while the Galactic Empire represents rule by monarchy and the nobles. Then we have our main characters that embody the true values of both sides. The fact that they are both geniuses in the art of war just adds more intensity to the already intense plot. Plot:100000/10

Execution: Here we have some problems. The novel was perfect but the problem is the adaptation in both the manga and the anime. The manga, I felt, did not really capture the intensity of the novel. I felt like it was a little bland and it focused more on the side stories than on the main plot.

The anime also had the same problem with the pacing. It was a glossed over some important points while focusing on some unimportant parts.

Character Development: Beautiful character development throughout the series. Every main character was well developed and polished as time went on. We got to see how higher stakes, danger of war and death and political tensions affected, changed and solidified our characters' personalities.

Similar anime: None. It's too special.
