When she opened her eye's, she knew she'd been crying. Her eyes felt puffy. Her body felt heavy and, by the lack of light in the room, Feng Jiu knew it was probably late at night.

She pushed out a mighty yawn while stretching her body out on the floor below her. She felt like she was being held as the hand stroking her hair froze.

About to reach out for her grandfather, she stopped when the smell of sandalwood had her sitting up. She kept her eyes shut a few seconds to breathe through the shock of being in his arms again.

She looked around and noticed they were alone. Frowning, she looked back to Dong Hua.

"It's been eight hours since we first went through your memories, everyone has left to eat, I couldn't leave because I was in it with you," He said watching her expressions closely.

"Why is High God Mo Yuan not here?" Assuming he should be since it was his spell they were under

"It's not hard for me to maintain it" he replied matter of fact.

Sitting up, she spun around on the floor to face him, "You came for me."

"Are you asking me or telling me?"

"I'm stating a fact, you came to the arena" she wanted to smile but became guarded knowing exactly how he would act.

"I did. It would have been best if you had not gone there, especially for the likes of the demon boy," he said with annoyance in his eyes but expressing nothing.

"But you knew he didn't do the things they accused him of, yet you refused to intervene." Feng Jiu wanted an explanation

"And how would you expect us to do that?"

"You are Dong Hua Dijun. I'm sure they would've given him over!"

"We have no authority or ability to intervene Feng Jiu." Dong Hua said sighing

Banging her hands against the ground, she leaned forward frowning, "No authority?.... You've been trying to find the cause of missing women throughout the realm. Yan Chiwu should've been placed under trial, not tortured. You know this, and yet you still say your hands were tied?" She yelled, feeling exasperated.

Observing her, he sat back thinking about what kind of answer he should give her. But nothing came to mind. Instead, he was trying to comprehend what was happening between them. He'd never needed to explain himself to anyone; this was both exhausting and liberating.

'Is this an argument?' Dong Hua wondered to himself

Feng Jiu began to feel uncomfortable having expected an answer fairly quickly but was given an expressionless face and silence for far too long. She slowly sat back down, feeling a little less daring having calmed down after the spike of adrenaline had subsided.

Sighing, she thought to herself, 'He's Dong Hua Dijun, he owes nobody an explanation, let alone me.' She stood up and dusted herself off to prepare to leave until he grabbed her wrist.

Dong Hua had not realised he had not answered her, "There are thing's that not even I can intervene in." Dong Hua finally answered, releasing her arm.

Surprised at the touch, it jolted her slightly. Clearing her throat, she understood she wasn't going to get any other answers.

"I understand, I just think, had you have come earlier, many people may still have lived." Tears were threatening to flow out unintentionally as she was still feeling a heavy dose of guilt.
