Tani awoke to a loud bell, so she got out of bed and slipped on her new clothes, careful not to be too revealing.
She walked into the training room and was greeted by two boys.
"Morning sunshine, was wondering when you was gonna join us." the taller one said.
They both had brown hair, but the taller one had a bit of blonde mixed with it.
"Ahh Stiff! You finally made it! I see you've met Tom and Gray, our top trainers." Pri said walking over. "Go and join the group!"
Tani stood next to the boy Alex, whom she met earlier. He nudged her a 'hello' and she smiled back at him. Their eyes met as they looked into each other's eyes as if it was a hypnotic spell. They just stood there lazily daydreaming into each other's eyes until Anna had cleared her throat and raised her eyebrows at them.
Gray began to speak "Okay, so you have been separated from the dauntless born, and you're going to be training with us. It's gonna be hard and the most of you won't be able to make it."
Tani felt Alex's hand wrap around hers as she smiled. She stared up at him as if they were the only people in the room. She had missed the rest of Gray's speech but caught back on when Tom, the other top trainer started his.
"I'm Tom and this Gray, whom you've already met he did a speech-" he began letting his voice drift away as he was stating the obvious. But continued "We are assistants for Anna and Pri, the main trainers."
"Thank you boys, since we are going to be seeing each other for a while, I'm going to tell you a bit about ourselves. Pri and Tom are Dauntless born whereas I'm Erudite born and Gray is Candor born. We were all top of our classes. And now you know us, we are all practically siblings!" Anna said seriously, but a few people let out a small laugh.
Tani on the other hand, was nervous and Alex could sense it, so he gave her hand a tight squeeze.
"Get to it!"
Tani started off slow, she didn't want to end up factionless, but she knew she wouldn't make it straight away. She had to work hard and fight for it.
While training, she would often glance over to Alex, who was in the boxing ring with a Candor-born. Tani felt a sting of jealously. She wasn't going to prove herself if she was standing over here, punching a bag.
She walked on over to the ring and slipped inside. "I wanna fight." she said confidently to the girl.
"Are you sure, Stiff? It's a little over your skill level." Tom said opening the gate to let Alex out.
Tani nodded in response keeping her eyes directly laid on the girl. They both into positions and put their hands up and as soon as the bell went, signalling that the match had started, Tani lunged forward and swung at the girl. The Candor-born swiftly dodged and punched Tani straight into her stomach.
Anna and Pri made their way over to watch the match. Tani felt a bit pressured with them watching and swung again. But she missed completely and tripped and the Candor-born pushes her against the floor.
"1. 2. 3. Teagz has won this match!"
Teagz walked out the ring and winked at Alex. Tani tried to run and tackle her but Anna pinned her down.
"You're weak, Stiff, anyone here could take you down easily. Get better, get stronger or quit before you embarrass yourself more." Anna said before walking off with Tom.
Tani recited Anna's words in her mind.
"I'll help you get better in return for something."
