It's been a pretty good day so far.
You've had a productive shift at work, you weren't behind in anything you needed to do, the weather was nice, and you'd gotten off work for your lunch break without any delays. You were excited about the fact that you had an entire hour where you didn't need to run any errands or anything, and you went wandering toward Central Park to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
Well, that good day ended about five minutes after you'd gotten there.
Apparently, some super-villain or other had decided it was a prime day to rob a bank, and they'd also decided that running through Central Park was the best way to escape, pursued, of course, but none other than Spider-Man himself.
Where you'd been promptly taken hostage.
"Let me go, you stupid green idiot," you yell at the guy currently hiding behind you. His arm tightens around your throat as he sneers.
"Not in a million years. You're my ticket out of this," he says, his long, sharp tail hovering near your cheek. You try to remember the guy's name; Bugsy? Skitter? Scorpion, that was it.
"Look, I'm really not important enough for anybody to save," you say, trying to wriggle free. "And I've only got about a half hour before I need to be back at work, so if you don't mind-" your words are cut short by the Scorpion's tail slipping closer.
"If you'd like to make it out of this alive, you'll just shut up and do what I say," he whispers into your ear. While you'd like to continue objecting, his tone told you otherwise, and you simply nodded. "Good little hostage. Now, hold this," he says, thrusting a heavy bag into your arms, "and walk."
Spider-Man tosses quips about as Scorpion drags you out of the park. His tail lashes out, smashing anything in its path as he tries to hit the acrobatic hero, who easily dodges.
However, as your captor gets closer to the subway, you realize you might just not make it out of this unharmed. Once he got into the underground area, what could Spider-Man do? As you see the canopy rise up over you as Scorpion drags you backward toward the stairs, you deliberately step on his armored foot and push backward.
Suddenly, the villain's grip on you loosens, and you applaud yourself for your quick thinking, but abrupt you're launched into the air by his tail hitting you as he tries to maintain his balance. Your vision falls to a pinprick from the impact, and you can just make out the tops of vehicles flying past you before you suddenly stop, colliding with something huge and heavy. You slide into a gentle and cradled position as your vision fades further, blackness filling your sight and mind.
"WELL HELLO, THERE, YOU TASTY MORSEL," you hear just as you sink into unconsciousness.
—
You wake a bit later to the sight of the sky above you, deep orange from the sunset. It looked a little odd; there was something missing. The skyline was...
Wait, sunset?
Oh no.
"Shit, I'm going to be... already am, way, WAY late," you say, struggling to sit up. Why the hell had you taken a nap?
As you finally manage to pull yourself into a seated position, the pain in your body makes you remember.
"Oh, right. Super villain hostage. Right." You hiss in a breath as you force yourself to stand, noticing as you did so something seemed off about the ground. "Tar and gravel? ...No, no no no," you look around to see that you're on top of a building, and as you approach the edge of the roof, you realize it's one of the highest office buildings in downtown.
How on earth did you get way up here?
"AH, THE MORSEL IS AWAKE WE SEE," you hear a dark, rough voice say behind you.
Your body goes cold as you turn to see the huge, muscular figure stride from the shadows, black body shining slightly in the dimming sunlight. Their huge, sharp teeth part as their long, tentacle-like tongue slips out and flicks at you, their white eye-like markings seeming to squint at you as though sizing you up for a meal. The white spider emblazoned across their broad chest made identifying them childishly easy.
Venom.
You slowly back away from him as he approaches you, and he raises a clawed hand the size of your chest.
"NOW WAIT, LITTLE MORSEL," he says, stopping his advance. "WE CAUGHT YOU ONCE, WE DON'T WANT TO AGAIN IF WE DON'T HAVE TO."
A memory flickers through your mind of soaring through the air, of being held, and your heart thumps loudly. You look at the enormous creature in disbelief.
"Wait, you saved me?"
Venom nods, his tongue and teeth disappearing behind a tightly drawn pair of lips. You think to yourself that he was almost handsome like that when he speaks again.
"WE DID INDEED," he says, and smiles. "THE SPIDER WAS TOO BUSY WITH THE SCORPION TO CATCH YOU," he adds, and you wonder how you'd feel right now if Venom hadn't. "NO NEED TO THANK US; WE COULDN'T LET SUCH A TASTY MORSEL MEET SUCH AN UNHAPPY FATE," he says with a growl, and you feel that cold chill run up your spine again. Was he going to eat you? You'd heard rumors... wait.
You look up at the massive villain and notice that his body language was all wrong for someone about to eat someone else (or so you hoped). In fact, it almost seemed like he was-
"WE'RE FASCINATED BY YOU, MORSEL," he says suddenly, rubbing his chin. "THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT DRAWS US NEAR. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT IS, AND WHY WE FEEL THIS WAY."
Suddenly, he's standing over you, his huge hand on your back. Your blood runs cold as you realize he could have killed you at any moment. Conflicting emotions wrestle for attention at his touch, and your heart races as you stare up at him.
"WE ARE CURIOUS, LITTLE MORSEL," he says as he leans down, and you can feel his breath on your face as he draws close. "WHY YOU MAKE OUR HEARTS BEAT SO."
He abruptly places your hand on his massive chest. You flinch a moment before feeling a powerful, fast heartbeat under your palm, and your eyes widen as your own matches its speed. You look up in wonder as he stares at you, a puzzled expression clear on his face.
"EVEN NOW, YOUR TOUCH SETS OUR SKIN ABLAZE. WHAT POWER DO YOU HAVE OVER US?"
You don't know how to answer, and just stand there, your hand upon his chest as you gaze at one another. The feeling of fear passes from you, and you realize that the hand on your back was gentle, helping support you in your somewhat beat-up state. To have such a powerful, monstrous being treating you so tenderly... your stomach suddenly was so full of butterflies you thought you might fly.
"I think... could you possibly... like... me?" you asked carefully. Venom's face wrinkles slightly as he thinks about your words, and you thought his expression was adorable.
You quickly examined that thought and came to the conclusion of: Oh no.
"WE THINK THAT MAY BE THE CASE," Venom says softly, and he pulls you closer, stroking your hair with his claws. "MY OTHER WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF YOU WOULD JOIN US FOR DINNER TOMORROW NIGHT. WE WOULD BOTH BE MOST PLEASED IF YOU SAY YES."
