Attack on Titan
•Shingeki no Kyojin•

Warning: Season II Spoilers

Captain [Y/n] is operating on the front lines alongside her dearest friend and fellow scout, Captain Hange. Our mission: well, it's not so simple. We must stealthily expose and take down Reiner Braun and Bertholdt Hoover at every and any cost.

However, before the mission even started, it ended. The two traitors, much like deranged canines, revealed their true selves and left us bleeding in an damp alley corner, clinging to a single thread of life. In the process, Hange and I were injured, amongst many others—my injuries turning out to be not as grave as my comrades, but still painfully unbearable.

To avoid the lulling effects of exhaustion, I stiffly leaned against one of the crates, arms folded loosely over my heaving chest, and eyes forced shut trying to rid of the stinging in my sockets. The burns, which engraved themselves raw into my face and neck, stung a great deal as well—sensitive to the muggy air. In contradiction to the pleas of my body, I have to stay strong, awake even. I, like those who I fight alongside, have a duty to fulfill or more so a fight to win—a fight that is far from over.

There was a sudden commotion that erupted louder than the grunts and groans of the injured who helplessly lay waste in a row about ten meters from me. Though, the commotion seemed not to be loud enough to outdo the overbearing silence of the dead.

'May they rest now.' I thought sparingly.

To the sound of a dozen horses hooves pounding against the walls top, I was slowly pulled out of my void like haze—a place forever captivating. As I arched my neck over in the direction of the sound, a muscle twinged screaming in agony, practically begging on its hands and feet for me to go lie down, to take a break and let it rest just a little while longer. However, time is of the essence and wasting it is a luxury I certainly do not have. Ignoring my burning bones and screaming muscles, I opened my eyes, red and raw from steam. On top of the wall rode Commander Erwin, Captain Levi, and the Military Police, who no doubt are only here to lend their support as a way to remain in our good graces.

Like a vintage locomotive, I slowly trudged my way over to the Commander, who had dismounted his steed. He was quickly greeted by Moblit, a man and friend that I hold in high regard unlike most.

Once Moblit ceased updating the Commander, Erwin began walking over to me. The poor man's face was still cemented in the same scowl he bore when I left with Hange earlier this morning. It was no secret that he wasn't one for displaying his affection or our relationship in public. It's not professional after all and he knows, with my many reassurances, that I am his and he is mine, so there was no need for public displays of affection. However, regardless of the countless of times Erwin has reminded himself of his own reasonings for hesitance, this time, he ignored his nagging conscious and embraced me without a second thought. His chest heaved a relieved sigh the moment he felt my heart beat.

"Are you hurt?" Erwin asked. He now leaned back slightly so he could take a better look at my injuries. Though, his hands delicately remained at the base of my neck and shoulders.

"I'm fine." I spoke, stating quote the opposite to how I actually felt, but I can't let him know that. "It's just a few burns is all." I lied—definitely not just a few burns.

Erwin blinked as he listened intently—analyzing, calculating my words. "I'm really sore too." I laughed a little bit trying to ease his state of mind.

Erwin, being the smart and experienced man he is, didn't believe me when I said I was fine, I wouldn't believe myself either, judging solely on my roughened outer appearance. Sighing, he lifted his hand and brushed a portion of my hair behind my shoulder so he could better examine the burns on my face and neck.

"You need to rest."

"Not unless you can rest with me, my love." I removed his hand from my neck and held it up to my lips. "Until then, I'll fight with you," I said kissing the party of his hand.

Defeated, Erwin embraced me once more. "Just...be careful. I don't want to lose you—I can't lose you."

"I promise," resting my head in his chest. "I love you." I mumbled.

Erwin sighed as he took in my warm embrace and placed a kiss onto my forehead. "I love you too. I have to go now."

"Good luck, my Commander."
