I was sitting in my room listening to music, one of the only things I could do to calm my nerves, I closed my eyes and listened to some southern rock band. When suddenly.

"(Y/N)!!!"

"(Y/N) !!!!!"

I sighed as I dropped my feet from the desk I was resting them on. Throwing my earbuds off I stood up and walked towards my door.

"Whats it this time?"

I unlocked my door and walked towards the stairs past Beth's room.

" will I ever find some peace here?"

" yeah! What's up?" I called back while walking down the stairs"

Once I reached the final step I was met with my sisters and my dad.

"I want you to tag along with your uncle." My dad said

" uhhhh...." I started but was interrupted.

" I already told you Hershel I don't need any company, besides it's dangerous out there now. We talked about this."

My uncle walked out of the kitchen while gulping down a sandwich.

" come on Jim those people are sick. And besides, the boy can learn a thing or two along the way. Maybe teach him how to hunt or...."

" We already have Otis hunting for us," I said trying to make a point.

" which is already dangerous for him. Just like putting them in a barn" my uncle half yelled.

"A paranoid schizophrenic is dangerous"

Uncle Jim sighed.

" how many times do I have to tell you that they're Dead!!"

Then it turned dead quiet.

I looked at my sisters, Beth was looking down and Maggie looked at me.

Our mother and brother had been infected with the recent virus and we had decided-.. well dad had decided it was best to put them in the barn.

"It's only a matter of time until they find a cure I am sure of it."

That is what he said

After a while, people we knew, friends, And even familiar faces were also put in the barn.

I stopped my train of thought when Beth ran out of the room.

"Beth..." I said reaching out but she avoided me and ran upstairs.

Beth's mother was our stepmother. We didn't have the best bond with her. But I had a good bond with Shawn, my stepbrother.

Shawn was more a "follow the rules" type of guy while I was more a " break em" type of guy.

But he saw right through me.

Something died with me the day he got bit and turned.

I had helped Otis with putting him in the barn, I had never been as scared as I was that day

Hershel looked away. And I couldn't help but blink. Trying not to tear up.

I knew they were dead. I didn't want to believe it but deep down inside me, I knew.

" I'm sorry," he said. Looking guilty. Not about what he said but about how he said it.

" ill talk to-..."

" No!!. She's heard enough nonsense from you "

Dad said walking off towards his study.

Maggie now looked down.
