"He kissed terribly."
"And that's why you broke up?" Chenle cocked his head to the side, studying the girl seated on top of his desk. They were having a somewhat odd conversation about her past romantic exploits - a subject he couldn't even remember how they'd gotten to in the first place.
"Of course," Kennedy nodded, referring to her last boyfriend. "He kissed like a dog - very enthusiastic, but lots of slobber."
Chenle scrunched his face up with disgust. "Ew."
"Indeed," she replied. "Naturally, I ended things with him after two weeks of dating. I couldn't take it anymore." Kennedy eyed him. "What about you? Anyone extra special?"
Chenle shrugged. "I've dated some girls here and there, but nothing serious."
Kennedy nodded again. "Yeah, me neither." They smiled at each other for a moment before Sungchan cleared his throat loudly.
"Class starts in five minutes," he deadpanned, making a show of checking his watch. "Don't you think you should get going?"
"I guess." Kennedy sighed deeply, gathering up her things and waved goodbye to Chenle as she started heading out of the classroom.
"I'll walk you," Sungchan cut in, halting her steps. Her brows furrowed in confusion, but she let him fall into step with her anyways as they walked out.
They strode along in a tense silence, and Kennedy was definitely feeling pressure to lighten the heavy awkwardness. "So, what gives?" she asked, cutting to the chase. "Am I finally growing on you or what?"
"Or what," he repeated, rolling his eyes at her. "Are we just not going to talk about what happened on Friday?"
He felt her tense beside him, and she stopped walking. "No, we are not." Her voice was strained as she avoided looking in his eyes.
"Why not? Listen-" he began to prod, but she interrupted.
"I said we aren't talking about it," she snapped. Then in a softer tone, she added, "I really am grateful to you for that day, really. But please, let's just forget it. It wasn't a big deal."
Sungchan narrowed his eyes at her. "Well, that really wasn't what it looked like to me." He paused. "Maybe it would be better if you could just-"
"I said to leave it!" she repeated, teeth gritted. "Why do you even care so much anyway?"
He regarded her for one more beat, and his jaw clenched. "You're right," he said finally. "I don't."
"Good," she huffed, and they continued walking.
Against his better judgement, he kept speaking. "Then let me guess, since you refuse to say. The guy was one of your numerous ex-boyfriends, right?"
