Kumpupintil is located near the infamous lake of the same name, also known as Lake Disappointment in Western Australia.
In indigenous culture, the lake is off-bounds to many of the neighboring tribes, including the Kurajarra, Wanman, Kartudjara and the Putidjara. The reason for this taboo is the lake's Ngayurnangalku spirits, thought to live below its surface. This boundaries even extend to flying over the area, since the Ngayurnangalku, cannibal beings with pointy teeth and claw-like fingernails, are deemed capable of ripping planes that intrude over the area.
The truth is, there is an elemental tribe community living within the area, who have made it their job to stop the Ngayurnangalku from entering the world. It is Australia's most dangerous lake for a reason! It's not as much of a camp as a league. I mean, come on – it's in the middle of the freaking desert in a haunted place that no clever person would ever go!
Frank Hann, a human who had heard rumors of the camp, was intent on finding it, but didn't. He was the one that named the lake 'Disappointment'. In order to cover up his true intent after, he stated he called it that because of the lack of promised water.
