"Get off my head!" I yelled.
"Oh! Sorry, Alex. Jaide I swear if you don't stop eating all the food, I myself will throw you out of the car!" Kyle said.
"It's not my fault, I'm hungry!" Jaide said.
"Whose brilliant idea was it to cram eight people is a van?" Ellie said.
"Nine actually. I already wanna kill Kyle," Maya said.
"What did I do to you?" Kyle said.
"It's what you didn't do! You had the brilliant idea not to shower before we leave," Maya said.
"Oh," Kyle said.
As you can see we're already getting ready to kill each other, and we have only been driving for ten minutes.
"Ok, everyone is quiet!" Mark yelled, "We are going to be in this car for a few hours and we can't already be killing each other."
Nobody seemed to listen to Mark, because they all we're still screaming at each other. So I did the best thing I thought of, I put on headphones, cranked up the volume, and closed my eyes.
**************"Alex," a whisper said.
I quickly opened my eyes and yelled at Mark to stop the car.
"Mark, can we talk outside please?" I asked.
"Sure"
I dragged him by the arm out the van and walked over towards a patch of grass to ask him a question.
"Were you talking to me?" I asked.
"Huh?"
"Were you talking to me, in my dreams?" I yelled.
"No, Alex, why?"
"Ever since I arrived at Ruby's I've been having dreams. Someone is talking to me, warning me about something. I thought it was you because I haven't had any dreams since you found me, but I just did."
"What did they say?"
"They just said my name, and then I woke up""What have they said in other dreams?"
"All they have said is "Alex" I lied.
I didn't tell Mark the whole truth because whoever is behind this voice is warning me about something, I don't know what, but I'm going to find out.
"Could it be Ruby?" he asked.
"No, it's not her."
"How do you know?"
"I can feel it, it's not her."
"Ok, we should get back to the van before the others worry."
"Ok, I guess we should."
*************"Hey Alex, I don't think you have ever told us about your family," Ellie said.
"Oh, well. It's just me, my mom, and my brother, my dad died when I was five."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know," Ellie said.
"It's ok, I've learned to deal with it. Well other than just me, my brother, and mom, we also have skippy, which is my dog, he has helped me get through my dad's death, I miss him so much."
"I'm sure he misses you too," Mark said.
There was suddenly a large thump on the back of my seat. I looked back to see Dylan kicking my seat while trying to yell through his gag.
"What do you want, Dylan?"
I took off his gag so I could understand why he was kicking me.
"Where are we going?" he whispered.
"I don't know."
"Come on Alex. Untie me and then we both can escape these weirdos and go home."
"Dylan, this is my home. You don't understand, your mom is evil."
"She is not my mom!" Dylan yelled.
The car came to an abrupt stop.
"Who took off his gag!" Mark yelled.
"It was me, he kept kicking my seat," I said.
"Alex, he is going to mess with your mind, put his gag back on," Mark said.
"I'm sorry about this," I said as I put Dylan's gag back on.I felt bad. Dylan tries to save me and in return, we abduct him and tell him his whole life is a complete lie. Part of me wanted to release him, but the other half knew that if I did then he would go back to living a lie.
We have been driving for a solid six hours and I'm starting to hate this car.
"Mark, do you know where we're going?" I asked.
"I'm just driving until we find a good place to set up camp."
"How about there?" Jaide pointed out.
"That's perfect," Mark said.
Mark pulled the van over into a small ditch in the middle of a large field.
"This is great! Over there we can set up camp, and over there we can train! This is a perfect, great job, Jaide," Mark said as he got out of the car.
Everyone started piling out of the car and marking their spots. I looked around and saw a small apple tree over in the corner.
"Oh, that's perfect," I said.
I walked over to the small tree and laid down my one bag with only some clothes, and began unpacking.
"Hey, Alex!" Mark said as he was coming over.
"Yeah what's up?"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for yelling at you about Dylan. I just can't let him get the chance to manipulate you."
"It's ok, I just feel really bad that we practically abducted him."
"I know you do but it was what's necessary."
"I guess."
"Listen, Alex, we need to discuss these dreams you've been having," Mark said.
"Mark I don't want to,"
"Please, I think I know what is happening," Mark said.
"Fine you have five minutes," I said.
"You said they have been happening frequently, right?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"Is it a different voice each time or the same?"
" It's the same, what does this have to do with anything?"
"I think it may be one of your powers."
"Really? Which one?"
"Telekinesis."
"Oh wow, that's cool."
"Well, sometimes it can be dangerous."
"How?"
"If another mutant has telekinesis they can interact with other mutants that share their ability. So, in your case, I think someone is trying to get in contact with you through their ability. Which can also be very dangerous because they can try to manipulate your mind and do things you would never think of doing."
"I don't think that's it Mark, the only person that would want to hurt me is Ruby and she doesn't have telekinesis."
"That we know of," He said.
"What do you mean?"
"Alex, Ruby has hidden so many things from you and her children. What's to say she hasn't hidden other things, such as powers."
"Wow, I never thought of that."
"But still, I'm telling you it's not ruby that's getting into my head, I can feel it."
"Ok, and you're positive that all they have said is your name?"
"Yes, Mark, why don't you believe me?"
"I do Alex I just have to be completely sure."
Mark came close to me and gave me a warm hug, then looked down at me.
"Everything will be ok, I promise."
"I hope so."
"You should probably get ready for bed. It's getting late, we are going to have a full day of training tomorrow."
"Ok. Goodnight."
I set up my tent as quickly as possible because the sun was going down and it was starting to get cold. Once the tent was up I laid my blanket down and a pillow and got all cozy inside, and I drifted off to sleep.
****************
"Alex! Alex, where are you!" a man yelled.
"Daddy, I'm here. Help!" I heard a little girl scream.
I was standing on a rock in the middle of a lake with raging waters. Over on the edge of the rock, I saw a little girl about the age of five, holding on for dear life. I looked at the little girl's face very closely and I noticed something.
"It's me!" I whispered to myself.
I looked around me and the lake looked very familiar. I then saw a middle-aged man come swimming over to the girl attempting to save her.
"This place, that girl, that man. This was the day my father died." I said to myself.
I must have fallen asleep, and now I'm dreaming of the day my dad died. I have tried so hard to block out this memory because it brings back so much heartache. My dad and I had decided that we wanted to go on a trip to our lake house because my mom and brother were out of town at his movie shoot. All I remember is that I decided to go for a swim without telling my dad, but when I got into the water I realized the current was too strong for me and I started to lose my balance and the water was carrying me to the river. I yelled so loud for my dad and he came rushing to save me. I managed to grab hold of a rock and I held on till my dad would come and get me. Once he reached the rock he swam me and him back to the shore and he threw me onto the ground, but before I could turn around and help him I saw him being carried away by the water. I ran for the phone to call the police but by the time they got here, it wasn't a rescue it was recovery. They never found my dad's body, but we had a service for him, but after that, I never talked about it again.
I didn't understand why I was having such a vivid dream of this moment that ruined my life forever.I continued to see myself being saved by my father, but once I reached the moment where he was taken away I closed my eyes, I couldn't stand to see that one more time. I fell onto the rock crying my eyes out as I saw little Alex run for the phone, attempting to save him. The saddest part was I could do nothing, I couldn't run into the water and save him, I can't go comfort little Alex, I was completely useless. I kept slapping myself, and splashing water on myself trying to get my body to wake up, but it was no use. I was being forced to sit there and watch the worst part of my life unfold. I had nothing else to do so I just sat on the rock and cried, I never let out emotions about my father but right now I couldn't do anything else. I felt so vulnerable. After I was done the majority of my crying I just sat there in complete silence, then I felt a slight bit of pressure on my arm and I looked over my shoulder and my jaw dropped.
