Chapter Thirty One: Here And Tainted
💛 Noni's P.O.V 💛
"Noni, is it really you", Banner said as we pulled away from the hug and stood separately. I frowned at the loss of contact and said, "Who else would it be? The little mermaid emerging from the... err... sea - lake thing?", I snarkly say but with a pout wanting to be back in Banner's arms.
"Sarcasm it really is her", Jayce said making me laugh at the enthusiasm in his words. "Noni!" everyone from Tesoro, Hannah, Jayce, Averi even silent Bob rushed in for a hug and I giggled hugging them back.
"I have to check your vitals and everything make sure you're okay no one just resurrects from the dead", Averi said. "Oh so you're back to being a doctor now", Tesoro said. "You stopped being a doctor", I question.
"Long story", Averi said. I've been dead five weeks, I'm guessing I missed a lot. "How is this even possible", Hannah said. "I'll tell you all later but first... my mate", I said looking at said mate.
Banner was standing at a distance as attractive as ever, he honestly looked like he was about to pass out though. "Banner?" I said as softly as I could, he's a heartbeat was beating like it was racing and against the seconds.
I walked closer and he looked frozen.
I never thought that I would ever make Banner stuck in time, I never would have thought all those years back mate or not that I would leave Banner Carranza tainted.
I made the blanket he'd draped over me like a make shift burrito around my body and stood in front of him. "It can't be, it's been ten months" he said and I sensed the agony in his voice. My poor mate's broken because of me.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and like a reflex he's snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me impossibly closer to him, his tight grip on my body serving as proof that I won't just dematerialize into thin air and he'd be left holding nothing. I'm here and I ain't leaving anytime soon.
Within no time our lips touched and I let myself be engrossed by the sparks that were ten times more intense than when I was human. Everything felt better as our lips danced and moved in perfect sync. 'Goddess I love this man', I thought, 'and his wolf' Odyssey chimed in.
'I love all of him'
I leaned deeper into his touch as we shared dominance over the kiss, It felt like utter agony pulling away when all we wanted to do was stay in that moment forever.
"Believe it now" I smiled as our foreheads pressed together. Panting back the oxygen into or lungs. "I love you Noni Peizer, I love you so, so terribly much it hurts and I don't care I still love you, I'll always love you", Banner said and I shut him up placing my lips on his again as we both let out tears of joy.
"I love you too, more than you know. I love you, Banner nothing will ever change that. I'm here, believe it, I'm alive and I love you", I tell him one we pulled apart again. We wiped each other's tears before facing the crowd that was staring at us with respect, adoration, love and awe.
"Luna!" the pack cheered and before I knew it were in a pack group hug. Supposedly during the time Banner and I were kissing everyone had shifted back and got dressed. Phew because that would have been awkward.
We all sat down, Banner sitting me in his lap while I leaned into his embrace and told them all that happened not forgetting the part where Odyssey calling the moon goddess a righteous raging bitch.
The pack was happy I was back from the 'dead'. I even spotted a few of the members crying, I never knew I had this much influence on people especially seeing as I was just a lowly human before.
"Yap that's my baby mama for you", Banner cooed. Speaking of babies let's go see my son. "Where's Odes", I asked growing worried seeing as everybody who would take care of him was here. "He's back at the house with Fazirya, don't worry", Banner said and I grew a little bit more comfortable, I still badly wanted to see him.
"I mind linked her she says he's sleeping, she's excited to see you", he said. "I'm sorry everyone but you'll have to speak with the Luna another time, I'm guessing she's exhausted and we have a son to get to", Banner said making the pack bow in respect before scurrying off.
"Let's go home", I said. I never really thought I'd be able to say those words again.
It was only Banner and I left so he carried me and raced us through the woods till the pack house I'd grown to love came to view. Just as Banner let me stand on my own by the entrance of the door an excited ever in red Fazirya rushed out the house and jumped me.
"They told me everything that happened, I thought we'd lost you forever", she let out throw sobs.
"I'm here Fazie, I'm alright, I'm okay please stop crying, not over me, I'm here now", I said rubbing my hand up and down her back. "I know I'm just so glad you're back", she said as we pulled apart and she let out a chuckled sob.
"We have a lot to talk about don't we", I said wiping away my own tears. "I'll stay the night we'll talk tomorrow right now I think you've got a handsome son to get too", she said and I walked into the house.
"Here", Banner said as Fazirya shut the door behind us, he helped me into a little yellow sundress and I let the blanket fall to the ground. The wind that whooshed by gave me goose bumps but I was soon meet with my mates warm embrace all the while Odyssey sighed fondly in the back of my mind.
"Where is he", I asked as Banner picked me up bridal style and walked us to the elevator along with Fazirya. "He's in the nursery with Tesoro", Fazirya said. "I can stand now", I said as we got to our floor. Banner looked hesitant but let me stand and we walked behind Fazirya.
Tesoro smiled sweetly at me and let me have Odes then she and Fazirya walked out leaving me with my son and his father. He'd gained a lot weight from when I saw him as a new born, I guess he owes that to his dad. I mean it hit already me but then it really hit me Banner's a father, I'm a mum.
"We're parents", I said smiling so hard it hurt and I glanced to see Banner was mimicking my smile with his own.
"Hey my sweet little son", I said I cooed and Odes fully pouted before crying out loud. "Woah!" Banner yelled astonished, I sent him a questioning look as I swayed Odes back to peacefulness. "What", I said and Banner continued to shake his head still astonished. What am I missing here?
"I guess it's nothing, it's just... he'd never cried before and it was honestly beginning to scare me that's all", he said. "Is that good or bad", I said still saying Odes who has now just hiccupping. "I guess he's a strong boy that just missed his mum too much to let anyone see him cry and be a normal baby", Banner said and I pushed all the thoughts of what might have happened if the goddess hadn't willed my existence.
I pushed them back because as I kept assuring everybody I need to remind myself, I'm here. I'm alive. I might have missed ten months but I'm here.
"Mamma's here don't you worry my beautiful boy I'm not going anywhere", I said and Odes quieted down. "I ran a bath for you, I've been sleeping here but we can go back to our room tomorrow. It's just... It was hard you know", Banner started rumbling.
"I know, I'm sorry", I said, "No, Noni, I'm sorry I should have told you everything sooner, I don't lie true but I kept secrets from my mate, secrets that hurt you", he said.
"Banner its okay"
"I just wanted a family and you but it looked like I couldn't have both but now I do and I'm grateful. Just the thought of all the pain I had when the bite killed you it just..." he said and I walked into his arms with Odes between us and let him hold me.
"Banner, I'm okay, we're all here, our own little family, that's all that matters right", I told him. "Right I guess we both have some healing to do", Banner said his eyes fixed on Odes and I like we're the only people in the world for him.
Like he'd do anything human and inhumanly possible to keep us with him. It used to scare me honestly but now I know I'd do the exact same thing for my two beautiful boys.
He caressed my cheek and I leaned into his touch and said, "We'll fix each other like we always do alright". "Yah anyway let me take Odes and feed him as you take a bath", he said and I reluctantly let him take a peaceful Odes in his arms as I stocked for to the bathroom.
After my bath I pulled my unruly curls into a bun and wore an oversized shirt and sweatpants Banner left for me in the bathroom.
When I walked back to the nursery, Banner was cradling our sleeping son in his arms looking at him like he was the whole world revolves around him. I stood and took in the site till Banner looked up at me.
"He's sleeping but you can hold him before placing him in the crib", He said and I walked by the bed and took Odes in my arms. "I love the nursery", I said looking around the huge room of pink and blue.
"I, it was my mum's wish that her grandkids have the same nursery as her own, I kept it from you when I thought of that as impossibility again Noni I'm sorry", Banner said wrapping his arms around me.
"I'm not happy you kept so much from me but not for the reasons you think it's because it was eating you up inside we're mates we're supposed to be here for each other and you went through everything alone, I don't want you to ever be alone", I told him, knowing he made a mistake but his intentions where pure.
"I don't want you to ever be alone either that goes for both of you. I'll say it a hundred times because it will never be enough to truly explain how I feel for you, I love you Noni", Banner said placing a peck on my cheek. "I love you too", I said leaning further into his touch.
"Let's get some sleep it's been a long... months... year... years... it's been long", banner said and I giggled. It's been a long lifetime. "You're right", I said getting up and moving to Odes' crib that was just a few paces from our bed.
"Goodnight sweetheart, sleep well baba", I said pecking his for head and placing him in the crib then pulling the little extremely soft baby blue blankie to him before climbing into bed with Banner and cuddling into him as he pulled the covers over us.
"Goodnight darling", he said. "Sleep well baby daddy", I said. "Right back at yah baby mama", he said and I giggled closing my eyes peacefully in his hold.
Perfect, together. All three of us...
