THE FIVE had finally reached yellow intersection point. behind the wall, rick and michonne set off the flares catching the attention of the walkers so they wouldn't wander off into the woods. daryl rotated the bike, slowing a bit. the girl put her feet down to stabilize herself.
"are they coming?" rosaline asked, checking behind her. there were so many.
he nodded, "seems like it. flares are catchin' their attention."
"rhaegar!" she called to the dog. that signaled him to be louder, cause more noise with his constant yapping and howling. the walkers kept their interest on them. for the time being.

it was time for the preparations to begin. at a distance, rosaline worked on putting the metal down into piles. they were going to make a wall at an intersection to divert the horde another way. the plan had to work.
daryl gave her a small pat as he walked past, "i'm gonna speak to rick."
"okay." she gave him a thumbs-up, watching as he approached their leader.
he was going to speak to him about the stop of recruiting more people. the marksman knew they needed more people to join them to increase their strength. stopping that was going to make them weaker if any people were to die.
the man only wanted what was best for the group and he was willing to stand up to rick for it. after all, their family was here and they needed everything that could work to keep them alive. however, he wasn't going to make rick to change his decision. it was just a request.
in the past few days, rosaline had taken the time to go out with daryl into the woods to give him some time to adjust to being outside again. he had admitted to her that the walls made him feel like he was caved in and being in the wild made him feel more like himself.
she understood and supported his decision. daryl was like a wolf. he was just meant to be out there in the wild.
through the time they spent together, he managed to teach her the basics of tracking herself. if she were to ever not have rheagar with her - that'd become vital for her if she wanted to find her way back to someone or search for something.
during the night when they returned home, rosaline had finally decided to share who'd gave her the same nickname that daryl calls her.
"you know when i told you someone used to call me the same exact nickname you did?" she mentioned, putting another shirt on, replacing it with the dirty one she'd been wearing all day.
he turned to her, eyes shining in interest, "yeah."
"that was my brother. he died, been bitten by one of of those things and bled out. my mom was crying over him. she couldn't put him down - neither of us could." she started to tell him whilst climbing into the sheets, "a walker got her. then shane came and dragged me into the car with lori. he was called nathan. i protected him from my dad as much as i could when i was younger. same with my mom. that's why i have that scar on my back."
daryl couldn't help but feel sorry for her. in the end, she was just like him. abused by her father. except her role played out much like merle's had done when daryl was younger. he admired her for it.
"i'm sorry," he muttered.
"nothing you could do."

suddenly, rosaline whipped around seeing abraham get out of the car sasha was driving. she'd noticed that a few walkers had strayed off to the side and he was going to round them back up.
that was dangerous and stupid of him.
"dare?" she yelled against the sound of the walkers after a few minutes.
"yeah?"
"a few of them are starting to-" before she could finish, it seemed like the problem had solved itself. the ginger man thundered back to the car, getting in, the rest of the walkers streaming back into line where they were meant to be, "nothing."

in the morning, rosaline decided to hang out with maggie. the two were catching up on what had been going on in their lives. it was good to have a catch-up, seeing as they spent a lot of time separated from each other due to their very different jobs around alexandria.
they had a good time until it came to going back outside the walls to gather pikes to keep the metal plates up.
rosaline heard a twig snap, rhaegar barking trying to alert everyone. she could see rick stop deanna and then warn carter and the people doing the construction work that walkers were approaching.
"use your shovels. the guns will draw more." rick told them. he was going to make these people fight against walkers as practice.
rosa sighed, letting rhaegar charge the first one. hopefully, it would encourage the community people to kill the roamers before things got serious. seeing the german shepherd tear the walker apart made people gasp in surprise.
"help us." carter, one of tobin's men pleaded.
rick jerked his chin at the biters, "you can do this. you need to, all of you."
unfortunately, these people weren't ready. rosaline and daryl exchanged a look overlooking what was going on. the men were stunned in fear. some of their group had decided that they'd had enough - morgan being one of the first to dive in to help them.
"rhaegar." rosaline clapped at the dog then pointed to another walker. rapidly, she took out her bow, letting an arrow pierce the third that followed. she figured that waiting for those people from the community to do something was pointless. rick had even started to kill them.
he tackled the undead, repeating the same process he was used to. soon enough with the help of michonne, rosita, maggie, glenn, rosaline, and daryl, the biters had been cleared out.
