Goodbyes

Of course Inko has felt it.

She was home when it happened, so she hurried to get to the hospital.

She knows her son is awake, she is just getting there by normal human means, because despite her happiness and enthusiasm the idea of traveling through the dream horizon doesn't seem really appealing for many reasons, including:

she hopes to not have to use the dragon form in this world again, unless for emergency, because it is THAT much painful and difficult for her.

triggering a nationwide alarm by jumping out of a portal in dragon form in front of the hospital where so many heroes wounded during the last fight are recovering may not be an intelligent move AT ALL.

She also feels something, someone else is awakening, when she arrives at the hospital.

She smiles to herself, relieved to feel her presence.

But first, her son!

"Izuku!"

She flings his door open and throws herself on his son, in front of class 1A sympathetic smiles.

"Mom!" Izuku laughs with joy.

"Young man, you better not worry me again like that, understood?"

"Yes mum, I will be more careful..." He answers, sheepishly smiling under her stern gaze.

Then she turns to Katsuki, and her look softens while she politely bows to him. " I can't thank you enough for bringing him back, Katsuki-kun. I also called your mum to tell her the good news. She and your dad will be here soon." Katsuki stares dumbfounded at her, and can only bow in response, because he's ashamed of how he treated Izuku and... "Honestly Mrs. Midoriya, you shouldn't give me that much credit... Izuku was the one who told me what to do."

A gentle hand lands on his shoulder, squeezing it lightly. "Don't talk yourself down, Kacchan!" he hears, as he lifts his head to see Izuku smiling at him, while his mother has shifted to the side to let him come nearer Katsuki. "You were amazing as always!"

"Oh, I was wondering how long it would took for Izu-kun to start cheering on that brat of my son again!" the joyful and loud voice of Mitsuki Bakugou booms in the room as she stands on the door looking at the 2 fondly.

The flusteredness of Katsuki is not something the rest of the class has had the privilege to assist, but trust an old author, they are loving every second of it.

Would you look at that? That boy got a soft spot for praise, especially if it comes from certain people. "Some" meaning particularly Izuku.

As laughs and lightness in the hearts accompany the rest of the day, they all together chat happily, time no more an issue, until a knock on the door is heard, and Toshinori enters the room while supporting a finally awake, although still wounded, Irlin.

"Mistarin Sensei, you are awake!" Some students shouts, hurring to try and help the elf, who is smiling.

"Toshinori told me about the final outcome of the battle. I am proud of all of you, children." She says tenderly. Then she tenses a bit. Those wounds still stings. She takes a deep breath to stand as straight as possible on her feet. She doesn't seem amused when she looks at Izuku, who is sweating bullets.

"However I wasn't so happy to know that the dragon whelp acted so reckless. I have to thank you, fire's son. You truly have done a miracle today." She says, and Bakugou finds it difficult to hold her serious gaze. He can feel his hand being squeezed by Izuku and for once he wishes the eyes of the others weren't on him.

He lowers his head and mutters a thank you before a strong arm swings around his neck. Kirishima is not a man of measure when he wants to show affection to his friends.

"Yeah man, you heard the teach! That was awesome Bakubro! You are Midoriya's knight in shining armor! You took the saying "go get your man" to a whole new level!"

And at this Izuku is also starting to get really embarrassed. He had just now let go of Katsuki's hand to allow Kirishima more space to do his "manly hug". And also because Katsuki may be calmer now, but Kirishima has a special gift to be able to trigger his explosions at any given time, not that it's a problem for Red Riot. True friends, amiright?

Although Izuku may protect himself with a simple spell, he finds it easier to just scoot at a safety distance, sitting on the bed near his mom who is simply already overwhelmed with emotions and is crying her heart out.

Now he's getting more and more aware of the fact that Kacchan might explode Kirishima into next week out of sheer embarrassment. Not that he would blame his boyfriend for that: he himself is as red as a tomato and would really like for everyone to just please get out of his room right now.

"Ok, guys that's enough. Let's give those two a break, ok?" Ashido suddenly takes Kirishima's hand to drag him away from Bakugou and the red head's demeanor changes so fast that it is mind boggling. From outgoing to flustered in 0.2 seconds, uh. That's a new record probably, Izuku wonders if he should write this down in Red Riot's character analysis.

Of course he has that.

One accurate analysis for each of his friends and classmates. Yup, for some pro heroes too.

You should see the essay about Endeavour.

Irlin however seems to need to speak again and clears her voice to drive their attention back to her.

"Idekus, I need your assistance, if you have enough energy, that is. I need your help with mine and Mistdream's injuries. I had already noticed that the lack of magic here affects my ability to recover the mana, and the battle left me pretty drained."

"I see, Sensei. I think I might be able to help, although not with major spells." Izuku replies seriously, conscious of the worried glances of his mother and Kacchan as well.

He gets up with no problem, after all his body is fine from a physical point of view and approaches the elf.

A minor spell helps the recovery from the worst of her injuries and Irlin's face relaxes.

'She was clearly still in pain despite the drugs', think Aizawa and Toshinori simultaneously.

"Thanks, young dragon. Now, we need to help Mistdream as well. I heard from Toshinori that he had been reckless as always."

It's Momo that feels the urge to speak up. "Mistarin sensei, please don't be harsh on him. He sacrificed his own safety to help us. He saved countless lives by doing so. According to the calculations, Gigantomachia would have gone through some city's areas that hadn't been evacuated if we didn't stop him and that would have caused massive destruction and many victims."

"I am aware of that, young leader. You are speaking very wisely."

Momo blushes furiously. She is becoming more confident, yes, but hearing such praise and show of respect still has an effect on her shy character. It's the warm hand of Shouto gently weighing on her shoulder that helps her reply after an affectionate glance at him and a determined look to her Sensei. "Thanks Sensei. I was just doing my best as a hero."

Irlin smiles and replies with a little bow. These children had to grow so fast, but they have grown wonderfully. And that is the moment that she knows her job here is actually done. No more whelps to nurture here.
