This is my Cinderella Story. Thank you to my good friend, Stinger2cool who helped me write this. I would love it if you voted or commented, seeing either makes my day. Anyways, the random comments to myself are in bold (as always) and so I hope you enjoy me talking to myself.

I really hope you like this! Here we go?

___________

Most fairytales begin with a "Once Upon a Time," yours, however, started with "Finish the Bloody Laundry!"

It wasn't that you thought yourself to be oh so picked on, but your stepmother, Karen could stand to be a little nicer. You just didn't want her to call you a slave anymore. Was that too much to ask? Apparently so, because the insults just got worse and worse. However, that didn't deter you, at first.

But, everyone has a breaking point, and yours came after your father died. Four years in fact. You had asked to leave the house to call upon some friends, however, your step-mother did not think that was a good idea, but allowed her biological daughters to go visit their friends. This pissed you off and you were vocal in your frustration, but that just got you banished to the attic.

However, there were a lot of worse things that could happen besides some housework. After all, once you finished your chores, you were left alone, allowing you to go out to the market to do some, "shopping," when in reality, you just hung out with your best friend.

Danny, the blacksmith's son, had been your friend since before your father died. It was an accident when you first ran into him in the meadow. At first, you were afraid of him. You didn't know what it was, but he intimated you to no end.

But, to say you ran into him was no exaggeration. It had been one of the only times you had run away from home, and when you spotted him among the dandelions floating off in the wind, he looked positively ethereal.

But, you had always been clumsy, and tripping on your shoelaces had only snapped you from your thoughts as you tumbled down the hill, a scream escaping from your lips. The boy looked at you and his eyes went wide as your rolling figure crashing into him.

After that, you became good friends, until two weeks ago, when he just disappeared. You had visited the blacksmith, but the man said he didn't have a son. But, you knew you couldn't have imagined Danny.

He had helped you several times after your stepmother had gotten particularly angry with you, bandaging your wounds tighter and more neatly than you ever could.

He existed, so why had he left you? A chill ran down your spine as you thought of the accident that had happened at the market. The fire in the florist's shop had killed the woman. Was there any chance that he could have died too?

You shook your head, it wasn't your place to speculate. Plus, Danny always seemed sensible. Glancing at the town square, you shook your head, he must have left. He must have left you behind.

"Hear ye! Hear ye!" A man called standing next to the announcements board (Is that an actual thing? Screw it, it is now), his chest puffed out. "By order of his majesty, every eligible young maiden must present herself before their highnesses for a royal ball." He called and you froze.

"If any maiden impresses both his majesty and his highness she will be made the crown princess and will marry the crown prince!" The man called, and your breath hitched. You glanced towards the dress shop that your stepmother owned and saw a queue line up in front. You quietly swore, knowing that your stepsisters would demand huge gowns to outshine everyone else.
