Terrain: Desert

Landscape: Sandy dunes, Sparse shrubbery, Oasis

Climate: Semi-Arid

Special features: The sand was designed to reflect heat, making traveling in daylight near-impossible for the tributes. Cacti remained the only source of water on the map, but the needles of the plants were laced with a poison designed to amplify dehydration. Holographic oasis's triggered during the multiple heat waves. Razor lizard mutations were released once four tributes remained.

Notable events: One tribute was killed the first day from a thrown dagger. Three tributes fell victim to the cacti's needles while another was driven to an oasis and died on the dunes. During a freezing night, a tribute froze to death without a sponsorship. On the last day of the games, two tributes fought to the death and the winner met the razor lizards.

Analysis: Gardiner volunteered as tribute to take the place of her sister, Miranda. Though underprepared by her mentor, Gardiner still displayed impressive feats of knowledge about the flora later key to her survival. When the games begun, Gardiner only grabbed a shovel before racing off into the dunes. She stayed away from her competition the entire games, small enough to evade notice. After the final oasis was revealed, Gardiner was the only one to stay behind and continue working with the cacti to get her water supply. She outlasted her opponents and went on to becoming the first ever victor to win without a kill count. To this date, she is also one of the youngest contestants to ever win at at 12.

Notes: After her games, Gardiner has never been the same. Her mind is weak enough for the rising forces to discard her services if she ever offered. No trouble is expected, and as long as Miranda remains at the Capitol, Gardiner can be manipulated.
