New York has a power and a pull that I feel from wherever I am. I've always felt it pulling me, even before I knew what it was. When I'm away it's inside me but when I'm here, more and more, I'm becoming part of the power itself. It's nearly summer and the city is coming alive. Deafening sirens, under a blinding sun, stir cravings and urges and fill our daylight senses with sweat and desire and dormant appetites awake. In the night there are eyes that watch, bodies that want to touch, minds that don't think ...and fear. There is danger in pleasure; it's written on the walls and in the backs of our minds and the winds when they blow carry the voices of the dying in the air, so I'm left with a choice ...to live in fear or ignorance.
