I am a mother, sister, author, & animal lover. But most of all a lover of life who is thankful for all my blessings.
I find myself in a place many consider to be midlife. I see this time as a new beginning with new opportunities!
No matter where you are in your life, NEVER GIVE UP!
I grew up in a military family. Traveled & lived in different states & countries.
I've held various jobs in a wide range of fields from: salesgirl, model, housecleaner, assembly worker, health food/vitamin sales, chip girl, tech writer in the aerospace industry, and graphic designer. All leading me to the job of my dreams, an author.
In 1976, severally injured in an auto accident I suffered partial loss of my left lung, a severed aorta, many broken bones, & a brain injury, which left me in a coma. My belief in God, prayers from many, gifted doctors, nurses, PT, & support from my family gave me the strength to come back for another chance at life. After a long process of healing, relearning to walk, & use my left arm I went on to live a fully active life, marry & have a family. Over the years, I continues to deal with health issues from that accident which eventually required a Total Knee Replacement.
Today, no longer married, I look forward to new adventures & new friends. I enjoy time with my family, which includes my cats. An avid reader I enjoy movies, wine, good food, nature, & writing.
Causes close to my heart include: proper labeling of our food, the safety and care of our military plus their families, child/adult literacy volunteer programs, & spay/neuter pet projects.
My first book is, Portrait of Our Marriage. I use the pen name, Martha Emms in honor of my Mom & Aunt, who both suffered and passed away from brain tumors. Each had hopes that I would someday be a writer. My Mother, Martha, wanted me to write from the heart. While my Aunt Emma, always wanted me to write stories that would stir the pot, be controversial, & get people talking.
I believe my book does both! :)
