I am getting back into writing, and exploring some short story and novel ideas that have been knocking around in my head and haunting a few scraps of paper for several years. I am primarily a visual artist working in acrylic paint,  watercolor, pen and ink and spraypaint. Known for her dark and whimsical portrayal of three eyed feminine creatures commanding swirling vibrant worlds, Chelsea Rose Rippel AKA LucidRose evokes mankind's curious penchant of being equal parts seduced and repulsed by the unknowable, fantastical and weird. Within the familiar yet unidentifiable realms of our dreamscapes, her creatures haunt the viewer with hypnotic gazes, daring us to see our own hidden mystery and embrace oddity as kith and kin. Creating in acrylic paint, pen and ink and tea staining; Chelsea's inspiration is a patchwork of ancient lore, the paranormal and strong feminine archetypes while her painting style shows the influence of manga, victorian fashion and surrealist masters. While working on canvas and reclaimed materials in her eclectic Portland Oregon home studio is a solitary and deeply cathartic act, Chelsea has also cultivated a collaborative relationship with street art and revels in using spray painted mural work to augment reality and connect in a more visceral way with local and global community.
