I'm a critical care nurse, originally from South Africa, and now living in Australia, married to a Scottish accountant, the mother of twins, walker of dogs, chief cook and bottle washer, resident baker, church volunteer, taxi service, and more recently maker of reborn baby dolls for dementia care.

I've always been a bookworm (I'm not fussy, I'll read just about anything that grabs my attention). As a child, I had a wild imagination, so I turned to writing fiction about 20 years ago, with minimal success. I had no idea how hard it could be to express yourself on paper - or keyboard!

For a few years I helped a friend, who was a lterary agent, wade through fiction manuscripts. It was an amazing learning experience and so exciting when I found anything brilliant! Lately, the only writing I've been involved with is proof-reading medical, nursing and adult education assignments for collegues. No offense guys, but my favourite reading matter has got to be stuff that doesn't have me reaching for a red pen!

So, here I am, giving fiction another go. The Heart of Deception is my first romance novel. Those of you who know me well, stop laughing and pull out YOUR red pens for once! I'd appreciate constructive criticism from any who care enough to stop by to chat.

My friend, Darcy Conroy, encouraged me to start publishing online - committing myself to an audience may actually get the job finished. So, here goes!

I've had a go at writing in the first person and the present tense. (Definitely a learning curve.) At the risk of sounding like Sheldon Cooper, "This doesn't feel like my spot."
