I have this odd belief that I can find vitality in my weaknesses without hiding them behind my strengths. In my younger years I was diagnosed with multiple learning disabilities; ADHD, Dyslexia, Acalculia just to name a few.
I was thirteen, had a third grade reading level and was in the seventh grade, but in that year words began to intrigue me!
By the end of the year I jumped to collegiate level and was told by my teacher I was a type of written prodigy. (not really sure if I truly was, but nonetheless it was really nice hear at the time.)
I have this 'vulnerably strong' belief because It's a perception that I experience. Perhaps we all unknowingly perfect our weaknesses and finesse them along the progression of our strengths?
I struggle with editing in regards to writing and hope overlooked errors won't get in the way of enjoying my wonderments.
My mother Gwen, often called me 'Wonder Boy' not because I enjoyed the company of superheroes; practiced comic book sketches, but because I wondered about everything!
upon my father side, there is a chain in the art of storytelling...from my grandfather Matthew, who told cliffhangers while in the service to make some extra cash from those who paid at the edge of their seat to hear the climax . To my Father Miles, whom I am named for; often told my sister & I the most curious and thought provoking tails as children. Even still I remember how often that ever watchful eye would pop up in every other joke and often scary story. I will forever hear my father say; "I'll be keeping and eye on you." I laugh as an adult, how a phrase that use to haunt me as child has brought me so much confidence.
Dad, it is because of you that I found my who I Am in writing. Thank you for always believing in me & teaching me to think freely.
If you are willing to go the distance, and explore the extra 5280' then journey with me and perceive 'Miles Into Wonderment'
