I spend a considerable amount of time writing to entertain those around me. I find it exhilarating to have other people, including my children, admire my characterization, be enthralled by my plots and laugh at my witty comments. However, there's something outrageous that has recently crept into my mind. In fact, it is so outrageous that I'm not even sure if you should read on... Do you feel brave? Do you feel strong? Do you feel that you could take on the massively controversial and scandalous implications to follow if you continue? I'm going to say this for your own safety:
STOP NOW!
Wait, why are you still here? Are you feeling suicidal? Well, you've made it this far, so I guess there's no going back for you now. Ok, here it is:
What IF (and yes, that is a big IF, not a typo), someone were to edge towards the dangerous line of thinking, 'Why is my audience so enthusiastic?'. I've done it now. I've gone there. Too late to turn back. And what IF, for some crazy reason, someone were randomly to proclaim a statement of borderline insanity; something along the lines of 'I wonder if it's because of the high standard of housekeeping they receive in payment for every laudatory response?' Ooooh, really hitting the magma core now! Not sure if it's safe to proceed... So, IF someone were to continue thinking along such high voltage lines, surely couldn't they, with the same chance of getting struck by lightning three times in a row, stumble across such risky concepts as: 'If my housekeeping were not so good, then would my reviews follow suit?'. BANG! It's here now; this idea has taken control... So maybe I can't rely only upon their judgement.
Incidentally, housework is something I see the need for but seldom get round to doing.
