Writing

I remember she was in 5th grade when a teacher first took notice of her writing
and if they hadn't said anything
she wouldn't have started caring
about the technique of stringing
a couple words together to get them sounding
like they could be sung in a song expressed in dancing

thus,

naturally it started to be a thing
that she was continuously doing
from essays, to novels, to poetry that was flowing
out of every part of her being

but then,

suddenly she realized that through speaking
her words came alive. living.
breathing -
flying? -
she was soaring!
to be able to feel the heart beat within words that were previously just sitting
on a blank white page that was waiting for someone to be dreaming
of a world where things made sense, and where there was talking
instead of war-ing
and there was hoping
not just in fairies and dragons, but believing
in something,
something
bigger than just what society was feeding

so,

she walked away from it, stopped listening
she turned away from whatever she was doing:
she picked up a pen and started writing;
like that 5th grade child from the beginning
who never knew where a comment such as, "you have an affinity for the spoken word" was going
who had to listen to all the adults' warnings
that although she was overwhelmed with passion, her life would be lacking in earnings

however,

she knew there was more to life than what they were saying
she knew that her capability was one that needed exercising
she knew that she had to do what her heart was begging
for; she had to carry on writing
her soul said to carry on writing
she said to God, "God I'll always be writing."

I'll
never
stop
writing...
