Okay… so now I’ve reconsidered my stance. Thank you everyone for the interesting and thought-provoking content. Wattpad should change their wording. Instead, prohibit sexually explicit detail between people under 18 and not say the age of consent is 18 since they do say we can “allude” to sex. And then I think, too, that they would prohibit the book, Call Me by Your Name because Elio is 17 and Oliver is in his 20s, and that just infuriates me. I wonder if parents of minors threatened legal action against Wattpad and hence the change. They use “industry standards” as a rationale, but that’s just b.s.
