"Alright, class, today we will be talking about college applications and scholarships. I know you guys have a couple of months left, but the school likes to be in advance."

I leaned back in my chair, my mind swirling with thoughts about life after high school. The pressure to make the right decision weighed heavily on me, knowing that this was my final year.

Law has always intrigued me, specifically criminal law. On the other hand, there was medicine, a field my mom had always dreamed I would pursue. I did find it interesting, but it didn't make me feel as good as the law did.

Law was something that I was always interested in. I get to explore the intricacies of the legal system, learn about different areas of law, and develop multiple skills. Plus, it's a field where I can make a real impact and help others seek justice.

I couldn't help but feel torn between my own interests and my mom's. It was a tough decision to make, knowing that whatever I do will either make me happy or my mom happy.

"You all will be researching more about the school you want to attend, and if there are any scholarships that come with it, now get to work."

I rested my head on my crossed hands, letting out a weary sigh. Researching schools and scholarships felt like an overwhelming task, and the headache from earlier had crept up on me. It stinks that it chose to strike during this class, skipping entirely the earlier period.

Frustration welled up inside me, and I couldn't help but mutter, "Fuck."

Suddenly, I felt a gentle hand brushing my hair away from my face. Startled, I looked up to see Aiden. Irritated, I snapped, "The hell, I'm really not in the mood right now."

Okay, now I feel bad. I lifted my head and turned towards him, offering an apologetic smile.

"Sorry," I began. "I just don't feel good right now."

Aiden's gaze shifted downward, his expression softening. "Wow, Zhera Thompson is apologizing; that's something new," he remarked, a hint of surprise in his voice.

I couldn't help but scoff at Aiden's remark. "What do you mean? I always apologize when I'm wrong."

He nodded, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Mhm, sure you do."

I rolled my eyes, realizing he was teasing me. "Okay, maybe not always, but most of the time."

"Wow, Zhera Thompson admitting to something she does—that's new."

"Okay, that's enough." Aiden's laughter filled the air, and I couldn't help but join in. "It's just so easy to tease you, you know."

Shifting the conversation, Aiden leaned in closer, his curiosity piqued. "So, where are you planning to go?" he asked.

I leaned back, contemplating for a moment before revealing my decision. "I'm thinking of going to Yale," I finally shared.

Aiden's eyes widened with surprise. "Yale Law?"

I nodded.Yeah, Yale Law. How did you know?"

He smirked. "I mean, you love to argue, so perfect for you." Hm true.

I tilted my head slightly, twirling my pen between my fingers. "You know, you still haven't told me what you want to be," I reminded Aiden.
