As many storytellers have said, this is a work of fction. That is to say, the characters, places, and events found in these pages are not real. This fction includes a town in which the plot takes place. I did have the amazing privilege to spend the second half of my childhood in a wonderful small town– the place and people there were like family. The town in the following pages is my attempt to satisfy a "dark-tickle" that enticed me to write about a town where the opposite was true. Following suit, the people in the book are just characters, and are based on no one specifc. That being said, there are qualities in each character that I have encountered in friends throughout my life. As I assure that the characters are fctional, it is also my hope that the reader does identify with some of them... for what is a story without recognizable players?
