Leafy x reader || you just disappeared!

I wrote this a long time ago.

This is no story with a happily ever after, so if you're looking for that, please keep scrolling.

This entire oneshot is just an emotional roller coaster, I nearly fucking cried while reading over it!!

Leafy stopped running for a moment to catch catch a quick breath.

She roughly panted as she started to flip through a couple of pages, looking for a map to a safe area.

"LEAFY!"

Their voice boomed, she could hear their angered stomping as she continued to panically flip through the pages.

She was about to shut the book and continue to run, until she finally found a map to a random forest.

"Aha!" Leafy could feel a smile spread across her face as she then began to say in a quickened and panicked tone.

"Blue skidoo, we ca-AH!" The leaf didn't have time to finish before she was then tackled to the ground, making her loose her grip on the book.

It skidded away and stopped by a tree. "(Y/n)! Get off me! I need to leave!" She shouted, trying to crawl back to the book.

But the human's hands just pinned her to the hard ground. "No! You're not leaving again!" They angrily shouted.

Leafy struggled to try and get out of their old friend's right grip. "But they're going to kill me if I stay!" She pleaded.

"Why did you act like you learned your lesson when you obviously didn't?!"

They shouted in her face, unknowingly and very slowly loosening their grip on Leafy.

"(Y/n), please!" She pleaded once again, managing to jump out of their arms. She then began to sprint towards the book, until she tripped.

(Y/n) had grabbed her legs and dragged her back. "If you were a true friend, you wouldn't leave me here again!" They screamed.

That was when Leafy turned around and noticed that (Y/n) was on the edge of tears. "(Y/n), I-I don't understand.." She said, giving them a worried look. They just rubbed their eyes.

"Of course you don't, you were never here to see what happened to me after you escaped to yoyleland!"

Leafy didn't know what else to do other than to just watch as (Y/n) explained to her;

"When you left, everyone started to hunt me down instead. The host even made it a challenge to try and find me!" They rubbed their eyes again.

"They thought that because we were best buds, that I was a part of it, that we planned to steal Dream Island together.."

"So, I had to escape too, I was so alone. It felt like you never cared about me, and that you only cared about the prize!" Leafy could feel the guilt creeping in as her mussels slowly stopped being tense.

"We battled for two years for Dream Island, and you took it. Then we battled for the BFDI and the BFB for three years, and you took it!"

"Can't you see that you're taking all of our hard work?!"

They banged their fist against the ground as the spoke, starting to get angry again. "(Y/n)..I-I..." Leafy doesn't know what to say.

"And then when you come back, you just act like nothing's wrong, like you didn't leave me behind!"

"I thought I hated you for so long, that's why I didn't talk to you when you came back, but you just kept pushing me to speak! And the next thing I know.. people say I'm your friend again!" Tears dripped from their cheeks as they spoke.

They sighed, one last year dropping from their face and onto Leafy's face. "Leafy.. I don't hate you, but I don't think I can bring myself to like you again.. Not after what you did..." The leaf just stared, a river of guilt flowing through her entire body.

(Y/n)'s grip on her was pretty much nonexistent at this point. "Just.. give me the prizes.."

"(Y/n)..I'm sorry!" Leafy started to cry with them.

They just sighed, one last year dropping from their face and onto Leafy's tear stained face. "Leafy.. I don't hate you, I just don't think I can go through that pain again..." The leaf just stared, a river of guilt flowing through her entire body.

(Y/n)'s grip on her was pretty much nonexistent at this point. "So just.. give it up, Leafy.." They said in a shaky voice as they then held out their hand.

Leafy thought for a moment before grabbing (Y/n)'s hand, taking them by surprise.

"(Y/n).. I know nobody likes me, and I know you don't like me.. I know the others don't like you just because we're-.."

Leafy then paused and took a deep breath. "..Because we were friends, but maybe we can have nobody like us...together, right.. buddy..?"

"Leafy.." (Y/n) whispered, wrapping their fingers around Leafy's small hand.

"Do you really think after all that pain, and all those broken friendships you caused.." They began, closing their eyes for an second.

They then opened them back up and looked the small lemon leaf in her eyes.

"..that I would even think about being your friend again..?"
