SUPINE

see, the life we never live,

the lovers we never love.

the lies we learn to accept,

the truths we learn to ignore.

hear, the questions we don't ask,

the answers we never get.

the false accusations we bear,

the fake names we wear.

taste, the tears tainting our cheeks,

the cheers dying in our chests.

the opportunities we miss,

the regrets festering under our skin.

smell, the liberty we never know of,

the filth we dwell in.

the luxury we crave,

the blood we bleed.

feel, the misery we bury,

the peace we dream about.

the chains around our ankles,

the chips on our shoulders.
