Lilith's POV:
I gave a noncommittal grunt and shoved my way into the bathroom. After closing the door behind me, I slumped against it, exhaling deeply. Holy shit, she looks so hot. My heart pounded against my ribcage like a battle drum, and all I heard was sharp, clear, ringing in my ears; an unfamiliar feeling manifested out of thin air and clung to me like a thick mist. I bit the inside of my cheek. Control yourself, Lilith.
Soon, I found myself sitting at the edge of the bed beside Hui Jie, blow-drying my hair. Gosh, it was so awkward. I side-eyed her. She was busy scrolling on her phone.
"So...what should we bring today?" I piped up.
"Aren't you in the class group chat as well? Why are you asking me?" she chuckled.
    Rude.
"I was trying to initiate a conversation, idiot," I hissed.
"You made quite a feeble attempt," she snickered, tilting her head upward.
Our eyes met. I looked away.
"Whatever," I mumbled, "where should we head for breakfast?"
I saw her smile out of the corner of my eye, and I had to use up all of my willpower to resist the urge to squeal with the biggest, stupidest grin plastered on my face.
"There's a food truck stationed around here somewhere, want to try it out?"
    "Sure," I said.
I replied too quickly, and now I sound like I'm too excited. Get it together, damn. I got up and stored my hair dryer back in my trunk. Grabbing my tote bag (it suits today's outfit's aesthetic more) and shoving in the necessities for today, I barged out of the door.
"Chill out, princess. It's barely 8 a.m, the others could still be asleep," Hui Jie scoffed.
I pouted and jabbed at the lift button.
We strolled out of the hotel, and we didn't have to walk far, because the food truck was just around the corner.
    I scrutinized the menu.
"I'll get the veggie spring roll and the iced tea," I said, tapping my chin.
"Huh?" the food truck owner stared at me, looking bemused.
"Here, I got this," Hui Jie whispered.
She subsequently recited my order in fluent Thai. I was flabbergasted.
Seeing my look of bewilderment, she simply said, "I learnt basic Thai so I could understand Thai dramas. Sometimes I get too lazy to read the subtitles... if there were any at all"
I hummed as the food truck owner handed me my spring roll and drink. It was not surprising a nerd like Hui Jie would do something like this. I nipped at my spring roll. Out of the blue, Hui Jie reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. I looked up, stunned.
She paused for a brief moment, and I noticed her eyes widen slightly. Turning around, she walked off, calling, "we can go back to the hotel and eat, it's hot out."
I smirked: the tips of her ears were red, I know a flustered Hui Jie when I see one.
    "Coming!" I replied in a sing-song voice.
