ALECS POV

It had only been a few hours, but the anxiety was making it hard to think, to see, to breathe, or even walk at times.

"Hey," Isabelle gripped my hand as I stared forward at Lena's picture. "We will find her okay, she's probably kicking ass right now. She's not hurt."

She tried to reassure me, but that didn't make it better. Lena has been distant recently. I've been waking up to her in the bathroom with the shower on and the door locked. When I would ask if she was okay she would say she was fine and then kiss me trying to change my mind.

"This is my fault," I pinched the bridge of my nose. "I shouldn't let her go on a mission like this anymore."

"Hey, you couldn't have known and Lena is one of our best even you can change that," Isabelle added.

"Any news on my sister?" Clary asked giving me a long look.

"No," I shook my head. My eyes fell shut as I took a deep breath.

"We have all personnel out looking for them right now. Magnus and Luke are searching as well. We will find her and if we find her we find Valentine." Isabelle reasoned. None of this was helping. She wasn't here. She wasn't found yet.

"People are saying that she's the one who transported him elsewhere," Jace shook his head.

"That's bullshit!" I snapped. "If anyone says that from here on out you send them to me."

"I know that," Jace nodded. "I've already given them a piece of my mind. We all know that Lena would never do this."

"Especially not after what Valentine did to her," Clary added. I clenched my jaw looking at her image on the screen.

"I am going to be replaced by the Clave here soon. They are sending another onvoy to assess the situation," I crossed my arms.

"What, that's crazy. Alec, you can't let them just move you aside," Jace argued. I shook my head.

"Valentine was able to escape on my watch, Jace. I will take the heat for this. I just want everyone trying to find Lena and maybe if I back down from this position I can find her my own way." I reasoned. Isabelle gave me a sad smile.

"I was the one in charge of the transfer team. It was my mistake," Isabelle said.

"No, it was both of us. Alec, they can't do this," Jace shook his head. "You're a good leader you can't let Imogen fire you over something you didn't do."

"Alec will do as he's ordered," My father walked in.

The anger was already there, but seeing him brought it all to the surface. It was challenging my ability to maintain my emotions.
