Shadows

The moment I started flying,
I could feel the shadows growing.
They won't let me shine,
They won't let me get the freedom of mine.

I'm stuck in a land with no escape,
I guess it was my damaged fate.
The shadows are at my feet,
Yet I'm suffocated-unable to breathe.

Sacrificing all to reach the sky,
But now I can't even get up and try.
I flew high, keeping freedom as my trophy,
But, nobody told me that the top's so lonely.

Now I feel so alone,
At a place of my own.
I thought I was freed,
But they'd just let me breathe.
