Dylan's POV

I wake up from my nap and go downstairs to get some food. I make myself some toasts as mom walks in, "hey honey, would you mind going to the shop for some milk? I'm going to make pancakes" she asks and I just nod my head continuing to eat my food.

As soon as I'm done, I immediately put my shoes on and make my way to the shop, just like my mom asked me to.

It's been kinda hard lately with the divorce my parents are going through. Dad is always in and out of the house, because he's officially moved out but there's still a lot of his things here and he doesn't feel like leaving his belongings with us.

Alex has been a good friend to me these past few days, dealing with all of this. Kinda makes me feel like I'm not alone since he's going through the same thing too.

It was about damn time though, they didn't get along with each other any more and I'm not surprised about that either, what I would be surprised about is if somebody actually got along with him.

So it's basically just me and mom on everything by ourselves. We don't have anyone to help us since my aunties and uncles are in other states.

I can't help but wonder how did she manage to marry my dad in the first place because his parents were against it, well everyone was, but now I guess it doesn't matter any more.

I get back home and put the milk inside the refrigerator. Hours later am sat with my mum in the kitchen snacking on pancakes talking about how school's going.

It's been a while since mom and I had some quality time together.

* * *

I wake up realising it's Saturday and I have nothing to do. I get up from my bed and straight into the shower, get dressed into some black shorts and a simple black t shirt, style my hair and jump out of the house.

I thought about visiting Melanie since I haven't seen or spoken to her in a while, she's still a friend to me so why not and I owe her big times. I get to her door and knock until someone comes out.

My face automatically lightens up without even realising it does that, "Hey" I say with a grin on my face but then it fades out as I see her dull eyes, she didn't even let me in the house, she just came out in front of the door and closed it behind her.

"What are you doing here?" she sighs and then says in a cold tone as if she was bored from seeing me.

"I came to see you" I honestly say and shoot her a smile which she does not return and instead she snaps, "Now you've come to see me? oh wow how awful of you to be hanging around the ugliest person on this planet"

I give her the most confusing look of my life, "W-w-wha-"

"Keep stuttering and acting like you don't know. Look I know you're the popular guy and might have a problem with not being on the top all the time, but I am completely, totally and utterly fine right where I am, I never needed to be the person everyone talked about, so it would be nice of you to leave, thanks" she cuts me off

"Wait Mel, what are you talking about? If it's because I gave the whole studying thing a break then I'm sorry but-"

"Leave. I never wanna see you again" That sentence just made me freeze, I didn't know what was going on and whatever I said was wrong, I never wanted to make her feel that way about me. Those words hurt pretty bad especially because I had no idea what was going on but somehow I felt the guilt.

As soon as I'm about to open my mouth again the door opens revealing Tom in his nerdy glasses, wearing yellow suspenders, a yellowy green sweater and some beige trousers. I completely freeze again upon seeing him, I thought I was the only guy she brings home.
