"So how do you manage to
take care of them and go to
college?" Rose asked as she
watched the fire's dance
in the fireplace. The redwood
surrounding the chamber was
a home to the flames that
brought warmth to cold souls
but if you got too close, the
flames fell into ashes of pain.

"My mother is a n-n-nurse,
I think I already told you this,"
Charlie began as he walked
around picking up toys.
"She brings most of the
in-c-come to ta-k-ke care of them;
I was fortunate enough to
get a h-huge financial package
from the school because otherwise,
I wouldn't even be here."

"Oh wow, I didn't get one
because my family's income
was out of the range."

"Y-Yeah, they gave me the
financial aid because she's
a si-n-ngle m-mom. I never w-worked before
my entire life because I felt
like my speech was so messed
up that a c-customer would
leave before they even ordered.
Bad for b-business." He shrugged.

"You're not bad for business."

"You d-don't need to lie."
