Chains on her body
Yeah, there's chains across her chest
There's metal in her heart
And emptiness all through the restTheres an echo in her ears
And hopeful words on her tongue
As the moon is named king
And the church bells duly rungHe stands by the window
A silhouette stealing her dreams
This creature right before her
Eyes clawing at her seamsThe chains grow far heavier
She struggles 'gainst the pull
As immaculate feathered wings
Can't help but sink to the lullChains on her body
Yeah, there's chains across her chest
Chains inscribed with bolded letters
Of the creature she loved bestThere's a rewind in her ears
And old sayings all through her head
Meant for one held so dearly
While relationship stayed deadHer words have fallen short
Met with counterfeited remorse
As masculine creature scans her features
With dulled distinction, of courseAs he turns away
His own heart so repressed
She comes to realization
That with her, he's not impressedChains on her body
Yeah, there's chains across her chest
She'll mark his name down slowly
As she's done with all the restShe's too far done with hoping
As she struggles 'gainst the bind
Of all the locked up beauty
No one ever seems to find
