Official Transcript: Raw Video: Chaz Adebayo: 08/11/2175

[Picture quality is low. Recording is taken on 2154 handheld model and uploaded to limited internet coverage. However, African Union confirms authenticity of video archive]

[No faces are clearly shown except for a single Asian man sitting on a chair center screen. However, sources and voiceprints recognize the presence of Chaz and Barak Adebayo and Chinwe Opeyemi, and others are implied off screen. The Asian man is unidentified]

CHAZ: Who are you?

[Asian man does not reply, but turns his attention to the camera. He looks confused]

CHAZ: Who are you?

[Still no reply]

CHAZ: Who are you?

BARAK: It's no use. He does not speak our language. (calls out) Does anybody here have a translator?

OPEYEMI: It is no use. Even if we had a translator, what language would we translate it to? We don't know what he speaks.

CHAZ: Well, it's obvious he is Chinese, isn't it? He is from Ambience Corp. Besides, look at him! He must speak Chinese.

BARAK: There are dozens of dialects of Chinese, Chaz. And he could be Japanese. Or American.

[The Asian man turns his head to watch each new speaker as he tries to follow the conversation]

CHAZ: Who are you?

OPEYEMI: Give it up, Chaz.

CHAZ: We must find out something about him! The freedom patrol thought that he would be very important.

OPEYEMI: Oh, for heaven's sake. I have a translator. Here. What language should I try?

CHAZ: I already said, Chinese.

OPEYEMI: Mandarin or Cantonese?

CHAZ: I do not know.

BARAK: Try Mandarin if you must. All the educated in China are required to speak Mandarin.

[From off screen, Opeyemi walks into frame, his face obscured by the edge of the frame. The Asian man looks up at Opeyemi with obvious confusion. Opeyemi holds out his hand offering a translator. The Asian man looks at the item in Opeyemi's hand, and then turns back to look at his face]

BARAK: I do not think he understands.

CHAZ: How can he not know what a translator is?

[The Asian man continues to stare at the device]

CHAZ: Chinwe, would you help him with it?

[Opeyemi configures the device while the Asian man watches, fascinated. Then Opeyemi takes the Asian man's hand and places the translator in it]

CHAZ: Who are you?

[The translator spits out this same question in Mandarin. The Asian man jumps with surprise and drops the translator on the ground]

CHAZ: What is the matter with him? He acts as if he has never seen a translator before.

BARAK: Maybe he hasn't.

CHAZ: How can that be? He did not live in a cave, he lived in an Ambience facility.

BARAK: But what was he doing there? Maybe they took the knowledge out of his head. If anybody would do such a thing, it would be Ambience Corp.

OPEYEMI: But why would they do such a thing? What use is an empty head to them?

BARAK: Maybe they were storing memory in his mind.
