A old nightmare

At the bottom of the sea,
I am chained to a rock bigger than me.
No light shines down on me in this
    abysmal hell.
The shadows envelope my very soul like
      a demons embrace.
The water is like a plastic bag against an infants face.
My heart is a martyr,
beating weaker and weaker.
At the bottom of the sea
I was within the darkness and
   without the light,
my everlasting salvation.
For whence it came I cannot say,
to whence it goes I shall be on my way.
