Adelaide

---

Why was she sure that the hit list would fail? Why was she adamant for me to trust her? Why? Why?

Why?

The previous mission of finding peace in the training room was forgotten as question upon question flit through my mind leaving me confused and struggling to put the pieces together.

Huffing, I left the room.

---

When I walked into the meeting room with a large cup of coffee in hand, I was met with two faces, one that I recognized and one that I didn't.

I had remembered one man from when I was tied up in the abandoned hospital,  the man that had explained that Mano was alive before leaving me with the boy I later killed.

In brighter light, I realized that he looked similar to Mano, both with dark hair and dark eyes complimented by a similar complexion.

The only difference was the way that their hair was styled.

Romano had his hair neatly and meticulously slicked back whilst the familiar man had his hair a little more unruly, showing off his natural curls.

They could've passed as twins.

"You're that dickhead." I exclaimed, pointing my finger to the familiar man, grinning.

A small smile grew on his face.

"The one and only."

He made his way over to me, his arms stretching wide before engulfing me into a bear hug and almost making me spill my coffee all over his back.

"I'm Romano's big brother, Matteo."

I wriggled out of his grasp and immediately hesitated to sit in my usual spot beside Jaekyung, her words still ringing in my head.

Instead I made my way over the the face I didn't recognise.

"Adelaide, assassin, MI6, Great Britain."

His shining blue eyes paused on my face for a minute before moving his gaze to my outstretched hand.

Clasping my palm and piercing me with his strong gaze, he spoke in a soft, low tone.

"Malcolm, assassin, uncontracted, America."

Uncontracted?

"You don't work for anyone?" I prodded, taking a sip of the strong coffee.

He shook his head in response, "I move from place to place depending on the job."

I nodded my head, taking in his reply.

He wasn't tied down by a person or organisation, something that I had always craved for.

Yet I hesitated in trusting him, uncontracted people worked for nobody but themselves, who could say that he didn't have an ulterior motive?

"Speciality?" I asked, suddenly very interested in his life and everything it entailed.

"Sniper."

I looked over to Romano.

A sniper? Was he going to replace me on the mission?

Romano smiled softly.

"Don't worry cavolo, he's not going to replace you. He's just here to back you up while Jaekyung is on the floor."
