I walked down the halls of my school. I was going to meet Peter and tell him that I liked him. I had made up my mind and was one hundred percent confident with my decision. Maybe ninety-nine percent. Okay, it was more like seventy percent. What if he didn't like me back and I ruined our friendship?
Peter was at his locker. I walked up to him with a smile on my face. When Peter saw me he smiled.
"Y/n, h-hey," he said.
I smiled.
"Hey Peter," I said.
We stood silently for a moment.
"Do you want to go first?" we both asked.
I smiled as Peter chuckled.
"How about we both say it on three?" I proposed.
Peter nodded.
"One..."
What was he going to say? What if he was going to tell me he had a girlfriend?
"Two..."
What if he was gay? Nope, nope, I couldn't do this.
"Three..."
"I like you."
"I built an Iron Man suit."
I froze. Did Peter just say he liked me?
"Wait, what?" Peter said.
"No, we're talking about your announcement first. You like me?" I asked disbelievingly.
Peter blushed and looked at the floor.
"I - I... yeah. But I understand if you don't like me back," he said.
"I was actually going to say that I like you," I mumbled. "But I chickened out."
Peter looked up at me.
"Really?" he asked hopefully.
"Really," I said, smiling.
We were quiet for a moment.
"Um... do you... do you want to go on a date with me?" Peter asked nervously.
I giggled.
"I'd love to," I said.
We smiled at each other for a moment.
"So, what's this about an Iron Man suit?"
