COMMENT WHAT YOU THINK OF IT**

You walked into the funeral home, not saying a word, not looking at anything.
It was a repeat of the past few days you spent travelling to Sydney.
You just stared blankly at the floor as you sat down next to Michael and Ashton, then Calum sat next to him.
None of you said anything to each other, just greeted the people walking in and accepting their affection with the best smile you could have at a time like this.

Once the wake started, you knew you weren't going to be able to last the whole thing without a tear, but you had to try.
You had to try for your best friends sitting next to you.
For your best friend lying in the coffin.
Lifeless as someone with such beauty could be.

"Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends. We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Lucas Robert Hemmings. A wonderful boy who, all he wanted to do was make music with his friends, and to live his life to the fullest. But that experience ended four days earlier, when he took his own life... For what reason, nobody seems to know. But what we do know is that his life never should have ended that way. Now, would anyone like to say a few words about Mr. Hemmings?"

Now was the time that you were supposed to go up to the podium and speak.
The problem was, that your legs wouldn't move.
Ashton nudged your leg with his knee and you stood abruptly.
You walked slowly to the podium and looked out into the sea of black to find Liz, Luke's mother - she looked at you with wet eyes and smiled. She smiled because she knew you were going to give him the perfect eulogy.

You cleared your throat and began, "Luke was one of those people that would always make you smile. No matter what kind of mood you were in, as soon as you looked at him smile, or heard his laugh, you couldn't help but laugh too because his spirit was too big for him alone; so it spread to those around him. He was like a ball of sunshine. But four days ago, death took my sunshine away..."

Your voice faltered and you looked at Calum just as a tear rolled down his cheek.
Then you realised that you were crying too.
But you knew that you had to finish, for your best friends, for your brothers.

So you went on, "But when I look at my three best friends sitting in front of me, his three best friends, I realise that I have three other sunshines. And somewhere, in the back of my mind, I know that it can't be cloudy forever..."

As you finished, Calum stood up and walked out of the building.
"I'm sorry, excuse me a minute," you said.
Ashton and Michael looked at you with tears in their eyes and you gave them a sad smile, then you went after Calum.
You walked outside and looked around.
You saw his familiar brown haired head walking quickly down the road.

You were about twenty yards behind Calum, a safe distance away so he wouldn't notice you.
As soon as he turned down the next street, you knew exactly where he was going: Luke's old house.
Calum starts running and didn't stop until he got to the abandoned house.
You weren't no more than thirty feet away, so you saw when Calum kicked the door in and stumbled inside sobbing.

You walked slowly to the front of the house; and what you heard, you would never forget.
You could heard Calum's screaming and yelling from the front door.
You could tell that he was upstairs, probably in Luke's old bedroom.
As you entered the house, you heard Calum's screams turn into cries of anger.

"WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, HUH? DID YOU THINK THAT IF YOU KILLED YOURSELF, THAT WE WOULD ALL BE FINE, AND JUST CARRY ON LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED?!"

You heard a loud sound, like splintering wood.
Then you realised that Calum was tearing the place apart.

"ASHTON DOESNT LAUGH ANYMORE BECAUSE HE THINKS ITS NOT RIGHT!"

Another crack.

"MICHAEL'S HAIR IS BLACK BECAUSE HE THINKS THAT IF IT WAS ANY OTHER COLOUR, IT WOULD BE TOO CHEERFUL!"

Another blow to the wall.

"And Y/N," he whispered, "she hasn't eaten since she found your body lying on the bathroom floor, covered in blood. She doesn't talk to anyone, not even me. She won't smile, she just stares at the floor all day like she can't move. Like your death paralysed her."

You were crying at this point.
Endless, silent tears streaming down your face as you walked up the staircase.

"Luke... I know that things were hard....but you didn't make them better, you know? In fact, you've gone and made them a million times worse. And I keep thinking that any moment now, I'll blink and wake up. Like this was all a dream. A sick, twisted dream. But then I realise that nothing in my mind could come up with such a horrible idea as losing my best friend. My brother."

You were standing outside Luke's room now, looking at Calum sitting on the floor against the wall, tear stains on both his cheeks and his shirt.
You glanced at the holes in the wall that his fist mad made.
And you looked back at Calum; his red, puffy eyes locked with yours. And you stood there, staring at each other.
He stood up and faced you, still eye to eye.
Without a word, you both ran to each other and held on like your life depended on it.
You both stood there, crying for almost five minutes.
He was the first one to speak.

"You heard that?" He asked, his voice cracking.

You nodded and whispered into his shoulder, "It's okay, Cal, I promise we'll be okay."

"You promise?" He asked.

"I promise."
