hello everyone! usually I don't like putting author's notes in my books, but I first wanted to apologize for being gone so long and let you know I plan on updating this book more frequently! I've also decided that I HAVE to for this because it's too good not to share! my lovely friend livvy_heronstairs wrote a poem a while back for our beloved milla and it's too amazing and perfect not to share with you all! so here it goes :))

Her and himself

'I love you', that's what she had said,
He heard it over and over again in his head.
The boy hated what he had done to her,
But the further away she was from him, the safer.
He went to such lengths to keep her and himself apart,
To do it, he broke his own heart.

He longed to pull to pull her frame into his arms,
To stare into her river grey eyes and take in her charms,
Like he had on the balcony during the first meeting of their lips,
Hers had been so soft as his hands gripped her slim hips.
He went to such lengths to keep her and himself apart,
Was that glass shattering on the balcony? No, it was her heart.

She was the sun, joyful, kind and bright,
He was the moon that stayed alone during the starless night.
While she she smelt like books, lavender and rosin,
He was a mix of recklessness, despair and strong gin.
He went to such lengths to keep her and himself apart,
Not even once thinking that she might cure his aching heart.

The boy felt as the world weighed on his shoulders like Atlas,
But at the slightest glimpse of her smile, he was as free as Icarus.
Unfortunately, she was a tornado, he was a hurricane.
That and memories of the balcony were the reason for all their pain.
He went to such lengths to keep her and himself apart,
All it did was leave two teenagers with a broken heart.

isn't this just beautiful?? leave some love for her please because it's amazing and I'm so honored to have had someone write something like this for me and my characters!!

A smoky winter fog had settled atop the city of London, reaching its pale tendrils across the streets, wrestling the buildings in full tinsel. It cast a gray pallor over the few souls still making their trek through the street lights and the scene continued to flicker from in and out of focus with each warm breath escaping young Willa Herondale's lips.

The fogged up window of the carriage was undoubtedly a result of the cold air she knew was waiting for her once she stepped out, but she tried not to think too much of it as she pulled her coat closer to her body. She intended to soak in as much of the warmth of the carriage as she could before she had to brave the outside.
