Matthew swore that you wouldn't be alone. Ever since you broke the news to him last year that you were pregnant, he promised you that he would be there for you every step of the way. And he was faithful with that. He felt incredibly honored that he was the first person you told. You came to him right after the two minute timer was up and the test read "positive".

He was also the first person that you had to restrain from beating the other man's face when he heard the news that he didn't want to be involved. Matthew couldn't believe it.

"First he gets you pregnant and now he doesn't want any part of it?! If anything, it's his responsibility!" Matthew cried as he stood a few feet from you in the kitchen. You were just as shocked as he was. Sure, you'd only been dating the guy for a few months but you would have thought he would have had the decency to help you out a little bit, or at least offer.

"Matty don't get like that. I can do this on my own, I'm sure." you said, hopping up onto the marble counter. Matthew had to control himself even more now- you were gonna do this yourself? Not on his watch.

"No, I'm gonna help you." he suggested, now standing in front of you in the kitchen. The serious look on his face almost made you cackle. His eyes were dark and his lips were pursed, his eyebrows furrowing together. "Y/N i'm serious! I know i don't know a lot about pregnancy but to be fair, neither do you."

And he was right. The most you knew about pregnancy was that it lasted nine months, the smell of paper made you sick to your stomach, and that you were looking forward to growing a child inside of you. Sure, you'd thought about abortion but it just didn't seem...right. Ever since you heard the heartbeat, the heartbeat of the baby inside of you, of the tiny little human that was barely the size of your hand, you immediately loved them.

"Just let me help you. I can take you to the doctors appointments, i can help you buy clothes, i can help you build the crib-"

"Stop right there," you interrupted, "you're not building anything. Remember when you put together that kitchen table and not even a week later it fell to pieces?" you scolded, making his cheeks go red and his head fall back.

He sighed and waved his hands in front of your face, causing you to giggle. "Stop changing the subject- I want to help. Let me help you." he could see the hesitation on your face. Matthew knew you better than you liked to admit, and he could read you like a book. "Come onnnnnn Y/N! I wanna be Uncle chuck!"

You burst out laughing at his words. Matthew let out a chuckle of his own, stepping forward and resting his hands on your shoulders. He gave you puppy eyes, that being his last effort to get you to say yes. "Alright, fine."

He smiled from ear to ear happily and wrapped his arms around your body and squeezed you tight. "I won't let either of you down, I promise."
