The Particle accelerator
Raju Ramanujan and Chen Liu were discussing while working on a particle accelerator. Chen was Raju’s protégé. He had welcomed him in the project and they instantly gelled. They worked brilliantly as a team. Raju was the implementer and finisher, Chen was the problem solver and idea machine.
"This is getting better and better! I tell you Raj, we’re about to make history". Chen was barely containing his excitement. It failed to contaminate Raju.
"I have no care about that. And I doubt the new recruits will be up to the task. I mean these guys are nothing more than civilians". Raju said with disapproval.
Raju's answer startled Chen.
"Come on, give them some credit. They all passed the simulation tests, remember? And with flying colours!" He defended.
"Yeah, but they were only simulations"
Chen smiled and busied himself again
"Why are you such a worrier? We’ve made calculations upon calculations. I tell you, you all will be there and back before you can say “Goodness Gracious me!”
" I never say “Goodness Gracious me”!
They continued their diagnostic tests. Raju was visibly worried. They had been working on this new particle accelerator for the best part of the previous decade but only recently had made an unprecedented break-through. They had successfully created a multitude of wormholes and had sent several probes to the other end. The data collected confirmed that the wormhole led to an Earth like planet. But one final thing was needed before this was revealed to the world. The team was calibrating and re-calibrating everything in preparation for sending the first human team out there – himself, Raju Ramanujan, engineer and mathematician, Luc Dakotas, linguist, Archibald Croft, archaeologist, and Lloyd Johnson, astrophysicist. They had been trained for the last six months in order to be ready for this voyage of epic significance
