The Amby Awards are back to celebrate more of your stories.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for complete stories that fit one of the categories for the 2023 Amby Awards. What we want are existing stories, so there will be no prompting to write something new. We hope to discover and celebrate well-written stories with exciting plots.

Before we look at more details regarding the categories, let's look at some eligibility criteria and guidelines.
We ask that you keep the Wattpad Code of Conduct in mind when participating and that all entries adhere to Wattpad Content Guidelines.
→ Submissions for stories will be open from 1 August to 20 August 2023 (midnight EST).
🦙We only accept complete stories. Please double-check that you have marked your story complete by the time you submit it. That said, you are free to edit and/or sprint to finish until the day you do submit. If you feel unsure about how to mark a story complete, we got you covered with this article from the Wattpad Help Centre.
🦙Your story must be fully available here on Wattpad. We do not accept samples or teasers. All chapters must be available to read on the platform.
🦙We are looking for English stories. But we now also have a Spanish and German version of the Ambys. Go check out the AmbysES and AmbassadorsDE
🦙We won't be accepting Paid stories this year. Please note that this does not exclude the author. If you have a story that's not currently in the Paid program you are welcome to submit that story. Why? Because our judges can't read the locked chapters.
🦙We will not accept any 2023 ONC entries that made it to the long list. However, any other story written for the ONC that didn't make it to the long list can be entered.
🦙Stories that won an Amby Award in 2022 are not eligible to be submitted again for 2023.
🦙Mature content is accepted. It's absolutely fine if your story is marked mature, though please ensure it is rated accordingly and adheres to Wattpad's Content Guidelines. Swearing does not necessarily make your story mature—read the guidelines!
🦙You are allowed to submit a maximum of two different stories. Please don't submit the same story in two different main (or sub) categories, or submit two different stories in the same main category.
🦙Co-written stories will not be accepted. We aresorry if this causes any disappointment.
🦙We don't care when it was published. Dust off those golden oldies or bring us a shiny new story—quality remains quality.

We will have 3 sub-categories for each of the main genre categories. Each sub-category is based on word count. Here's an example of what we mean:
If the main category is Romance:
Romance Short story (5k to 10k)
Romance Novella (anything over 10k to 50k)
Romance Novel (anything over 50k)
Categories you can expect to see: Fanfiction, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction, Diverse Lit, Humor, Action, New Adult, Adventure, etc...the usual main genres.
Poetry will have a category, but to be eligible you need to have a standalone collection of at least 10 chapters.
All categories will be revealed once the category chapter is posted on the 1st of August.
We won't be accepting anything classified under random. We will also not accept non-fiction stories.
