-my first story :3

As a recent graduate from Seoul University, I found myself settling into a routine that I had never expected. My days were filled with managing the cash register, stocking shelves, and helping customers at the local convenience store. It wasn't exactly the glamorous job I had envisioned after graduation, but it paid the bills.

One evening, as the sun began to dip below the horizon, I was going about my usual tasks when the bell above the entrance chimed, signaling the arrival of a customer. I glanced up, my eyes meeting a pair of familiar ones. It took me a moment to process who it was: Winter – the Kpop idol from the group aespa. Her real name was Kim Minjeong, but she was known as Winter to her fans.

My heart raced as she approached the counter, offering me a warm smile. "Hey there," she greeted, her voice melodic and surprisingly down-to-earth. "Just a few snacks for tonight."

I nodded, my fingers almost fumbling as I scanned the items. It was surreal to see her standing in front of me, not on a stage but in the same ordinary setting as me. "That'll be 12,000 won," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

She handed me the money, and our fingers brushed as I took it from her. A jolt of electricity seemed to pass through my skin, leaving me slightly flustered. "Thanks," she said, her gaze lingering for a moment longer than necessary.

I managed to give her a small smile, my heart still racing. "Anytime. Have a great night."

As she walked away, the bell chimed again, and I let out a shaky breath. What had just happened? It was as if a spark had ignited in that brief encounter, leaving me both excited and bewildered. For the next few days, I found myself replaying that moment in my mind, wondering if it had meant as much to her as it had to me.

A week later, she returned to the store, and this time, I was determined not to let my nerves get the best of me. "Hey, Winter," I greeted, trying to sound casual.

She grinned, her eyes lighting up. "You remembered my name."

I shrugged, my cheeks warming slightly. "Hard to forget."

Our conversations grew longer each time she visited. We talked about everything – from the mundane details of my job to the whirlwind life of being a Kpop idol. She shared stories of the stage, the fans, and the challenges she faced. It was fascinating to catch a glimpse of her world, and I found myself opening up about my own aspirations and dreams.

As days turned into weeks, I realized that Winter wasn't just a distant celebrity; she was becoming a friend. Our interactions felt genuine and comfortable, as if we had known each other for much longer than we actually had. The convenience store had transformed from a place of mundane routines to a setting where something unexpected and magical was unfolding.

Little did I know, this chance encounter was just the beginning of a journey that would lead me down a path I had never anticipated.

Life continued its rhythm, but with Winter's appearances at the convenience store, it gained a new kind of melody. Our interactions were like bright spots in my otherwise ordinary days. It was intriguing how our conversations flowed so effortlessly, as if we had known each other for ages.

One evening, as the store began to quiet down, Winter strolled in, her eyes lighting up when she spotted me behind the counter. "Hey, Y/N-ie!" she greeted with a friendly wave.

I returned the smile, my heart doing a little somersault at the sight of her. "Hey, Winter. Back for another round of snacks?"

She chuckled, nodding as she browsed the shelves. "You know me too well."

As she picked out her snacks, I leaned against the counter, feeling a newfound ease in her presence. "So, how's life in the idol world treating you?" I asked, genuinely curious.

She sighed playfully. "Busy as ever. Rehearsals, performances, interviews – it's a whirlwind. But I love every bit of it."

It was captivating to hear her talk about her life as an idol. Her eyes sparkled as she described the rush of performing on stage, the adrenaline that came with connecting with fans, and the camaraderie among her group members. Listening to her, I realized just how different our worlds were, yet there was an unspoken bridge forming between us.

As she finished selecting her items, she brought them to the counter. Our fingers brushed again as I scanned them, and I couldn't help but notice how soft her skin felt against mine. The tiniest gesture, yet it sent shivers down my spine.

She handed me the money, her gaze lingering. "You know, I really enjoy our conversations," she admitted.

A warmth spread through me. "Likewise. It's not every day I get to chat with a Kpop idol."

She chuckled. "Well, I'm just Minjeong when I'm here."

The bell above the entrance chimed as another customer walked in, breaking our moment. But the connection we were building seemed to extend beyond those fleeting seconds.

In the following weeks, Winter's visits became a regular occurrence. Our conversations covered a range of topics, from her music inspirations to my job aspirations. I learned about her journey to becoming an idol, the hard work, the sacrifices, and the thrill of achieving her dreams. In turn, I shared my experiences as a fresh graduate navigating the challenges of adulthood.

One day, as we sat on the bench outside the store during her break, Winter looked at me with a thoughtful expression. "You know, Y/N-ie, I feel like I can be myself around you. It's refreshing."

I couldn't help but smile. "Likewise, Winter. It's not every day that I get to talk to someone who's genuinely down-to-earth."

Her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink. "Thanks. That means a lot."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over us, I realized that our connection was growing stronger with each passing day. Despite the differences in our lives, we found common ground and a genuine understanding that seemed to defy the odds.

Little did I know that this unlikely friendship would soon face a test – a challenge that would force me to confront emotions I had been trying to ignore.
