Surprise! (I'm the best, I know 🌚)

I can't believe this is happening...

But it is...

"Mom, you can't do this to me!" I shriek dramatically. She frowns at the drama queen of a daughter. "Y/N, you knew this would happen sooner or later. You can't keep avoiding him." She sighed as she packed my final piece of clothing into my suitcase.

I came home from my last day of school. Super fucking excited for summer vacation. Movie theater, ice cream parlors, going to the beach, Netflix marathons while eating endless bags of hot Cheetos, but now my summer plans are all out the darn window.

I look away angry as I know who she's referring to.

My father.

My parents were divorced since the age of six, he had cheated on her. She never forgave him. But even then, she never went to court, she put her differences aside with him and always made sure I still had some relationship with him. I always had a feeling it was because of her own absent father, he was never in her life and she didn't want that for me.

So I have always been back and forth from San Fransisco to L.A. Well that was until six summers ago. I stopped going to Los Angeles when I turned thirteen. When I discovered the truth about the divorce. Now, I'm nineteen and still have no interest in trying to build a relationship with him.

Nothing against my father but I think it's more me, I just feel awkward and don't know how to express my emotions... So I avoid it instead.

"Mom, I'm at the prime of my age, I need to be here with my friends, This is going to be our best summer ever!" I whined. She rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed with me. "Y/N, you always say that. It's time to come with up a different excuse, Kiddo."

I let out a frustrated huff. "Okay, well about this. Chris is finally going to ask me to be his girlfriend. Mom, I finally might have my first kiss! You don't want to take that away from your only daughter, do you?" Minapulation at their finest. "Y/N, I hate to break this to you but you my daughter are delusional as fuck." She points-blank.

Well, who fucking hurt her?

"Don't you think I know that?" I snapped back. "But If I leave, My delusions won't be fed. He might ask Chrissy to be his girlfriend instead."

"Honey, this back and forth with you and her needs to stop."

"Can I give you a piece of advice?" She smiles. "You're going to give it to me regardless, so go ahead." I sigh.

She comes closer and rests her hand on my shoulder. "If another girl can take a man from you. He was never yours to begin with, no matter how much you wanted him to be. He was never yours but there is someone out there, who is and would never put you in that position because he has eyes for you and for you only. Please remember that."

Well, God, Damm.

She got quotes.

My shoulders deflate and my eyes fall down to the floor. "When am I leaving?" I whisper. "Now, I booked a ticket for you."

I lift my head. "Does he know I'm coming?" I ask and she nods. "Yes, I talked to him yesterday." She says.

I frown. "When exactly did you plan this?" I arch an eyebrow. "A month." She deadpans.

You think you know somebody.

"No wonder I have trust issues," I mutter under my breath. "Wait!" I said a bit too loud for her liking as she got startled. "Am I staying with him for all three months?" I ask suspiciously.
