Chapter 27: Alternate Winner?

Duncan had just begun to catch up to Gwen. He was covering more ground due to being more athletic than Gwen. Duncan is soon running head to head with Gwen. Both of them rushing forward and taking the lead

(Duncan and Gwen): AHHHHHH!!!

The two let out a war cry as they pushed themselves past their limits to try and beat each other

(Chris): There they are. Two real competitors, and if I may say, truly personifying the spirit of the reject Olympics!

(Kai): YOU GOT THIS GWEN! YOU CAN DO IT JUST KEEP RUNNING!

(Courtney): BEAT HER DUNCAN!

Chris grinned as he watched the two fight for the lead

(Chris): This is awesome!

He looked to the camera smiling

(Chris): You have it here folks! The finalists of Total Drama Island!

The camera looked at Gwen and Duncan as they were quickly reaching the red ribbon that was held between two poles

(Chris): It's anyones game! Who's it going to be?!

(Ex-Contestants): GO! GO! GO!

Both sides cheered for Duncan and Gwen. They were on the edge of their seats wondering who'd take home the winning prize. Duncan inches forward

(Chris): It's Duncan! No its Gwen!

He shouts as Gwen inches past him. Chris continued to name who was in front as Duncan and Gwen kept passing each other to gain the lead. They were inches away from victory. Gwen was at her limit having a hard time keeping up with Duncan but she kept going

(Chris): IT'S...

The sound of a rip could be heard as the area went silent. The camera slowly panned past the torn ribbon to the contestant who failed to reach the end and is on the ground panting. It switched to the winner who was on one knee and gasping for air. The person who won is...

(Chris): THE WINNER IS GWEN!

He yells as the camera showed Gwen's face. She was panting but a grin spread across her face as she heard the hosts words

(Gwen): I won? I WON!

Gwen stood tall and threw her fists into the air cheering

(Cody): WOOOOH! ALRIGHT GWEN!

(Leshawna): WAY TO GO GIRL!

Cody and Leshawna ran over to congratulate their friend who had won. Chris walked over and grabbed Gwens arm and raised it into the air

(Chris): You saw it here our loyal viewers! The last camper standing and the winner of the hundred grand prize was the goth girl Gwen!

Gwen's supporters cheered loudly while Duncan's supporters clapped and joined in on the cheering being a good sport despite the camper they supported ending up losing. Gwen having regained her breath stood up and looked at the runner up. Duncan was on the ground panting looking disappointed

(Duncan): Dammit... So close...

He heard footsteps and looked up he saw Courtney

(Courtney): Hey I know you didn't win but you did your best

Courtney helped him onto his feet. The reason Duncan had lost to Gwen was because she had a second wind which helped her win. Kai ran over to Gwen and lifted her into the air smiling

(Kai): You did amazing Gwen! I had no doubt that you'd win!

Duncan and Courtney looked at everyone celebrating Gwen's victory
