POEM iv.

/PERCY'S POV/

The normalcy that Percy had previously gained (even if in moderation) quickly melted away once he was claimed by Poseidon.

The morning after, Chiron had moved him to cabin three, away from all the acquaintances he made in the Hermes cabin (away from Icarus).

It was difficult, having to endure the isolation that swiftly replaced a familiar ambience.

Percy knew everyone was talking about him behind his back. The other campers steered clear of him as if he bore a plague, like he was sick and diseased.

All the other Hermes kids were too scared to spar with him, so his lessons with Luke became one-on-one. Icarus never joined in.

It wasn't out of fear, Percy knew, but for another reason that he was too afraid to hear.

Resentment.

Percy thought Icarus resented him. I mean, it would make sense. Percy was at camp for less than a week and had already been claimed by one of the big three.
