the next morning rue woke up, her face covered in the bonde hair. cigarettesaftersex softly playing in the background.

she leaned back a little and smiled. leighton's back was pressed into the girl, her head on rue's extended arm on the pillow. rue's other arm was wrapped around leighton's torso, the blonde's finger softly entwined with it. leighton stirred awake when she felt rue pull away. she turned around to face rue. 

"mornin" rue smiled looking down into her eyes 

"morning" leighton smiled back 

"well you do have to get out of here before my roommates see you" rue whispered 

"right, just a minute" leighton said as she closed her eyes, pressing a small kiss on the grey eyed girl's lips. 

later, at the woman's centre she met up with ginger, alicia and leighton and sat near the blonde mindlessly. ginger was explaining how she got catfished by her cousin again. alicia advised ginger and tova walked in, looking down. 

"hey tova." rue noticed their mood "what's up?" 

"it's over between me and beth" they said taking a seat 

"what happened you two were such a cute couple" ginger commented 

"we were supposed to go over to her house for thanksgiving and while her parents are cool with her being a lesbian she thought i might be too much for them" tova explained sighing 

"what-what would be too much?" alicia asked 

"i guess they've never met someone who's non-binary so beth wanted me to.. fem it up?" 

"oh fuck that" leighton commented making everyone look at her  

"what side are you on?" alicia asked 

"tova's, obviously" she stated it like a fact "look when i first had to come here, i'll be real with you, i thought y'all sucked, not for any identity reasons just personalities you know. but then i got to know you and tova, i think you're pretty great, you're almost too cool to be here but still come here which kinda makes you cooler so it's beth's loss" rue smiled at the blonde's development 

"thank you, leighton" tova said 

"leighton" ginger called her "were you pointing at me when you said personalities?" 

"no just looked that way" leighton explained but everyone knew what she meant.

after their shift was over, rue and leighton walked outside and it was evening. 

"hey you wanna come over? my roommates are out won't be back till late" rue offered 

"as tempting as it sounds, i am gonna have to decline. i have to go to this acapella thing" 

"wait wait wait" rue stopped in her tracks trying to control her laugh "did you say acapella?" leighton nodded "who are you and what have you done do leighton murray?" the two shared a smile 

it felt weird hearing rue say leighton's name, it felt good weird. 

"well i can just leave early?" leighton proposed 

"yes, please do that" rue pleaded "i'll be waiting" rue playfully winked at the blonde before skipping away to her room. leighton stood there for a moment just watching rue walk away. 

rue sat on her bed waiting for leighton to show up, while she looked at the latest post by her favourite local band, 'ghost town's  social media, they had a concert soon. her phone buzzed, picking it up she saw it was a text from ashley.

'you up?' 

rue, at first decided she'd not reply as she already has something with leighton and a reply to ahley would only ruin it. after a minute she changed her mind typing a quick, non-sexy reply. 

'sent a photo' 

'yeah?' she hit send at the same time the picture came through. she tapped on it to reveal ashley in a black lingerie. 

"hey" leighton came opened her room's door making rue turn her phone off rather abruptly 

"wait it wasn't locked?" rue got up and locked the main door then came back to her room 

"i brought chinese" leighton smiled showing rue the bags in her hand 

"good, i am starving" leighton climbed on rue's bed and rue joined. 

"you know whitney is meeting up with canaan again tonight" leighton informed 

"who's whitney and who is canaan?" rue asked showing interest in leighton's personal life 

"whitney is my roommate and she just got out of this super weird relationship and now she's hitting it up with this really hot guyshe met at the last theta party" leighton explained enthusiastically which made rue smile.

"damn, super weird? what she was dating her teacher or something?" rue joked but leighton's silence made her nod "okay, wow. that is weird" she agreed 

"yeah and as it turns out i am pretty great at giving dating advice" 

"yeah, to others maybe? but you don't follow what you preach" rue narrowed her eyes at leighton 

"yeah, why would you say that? i literally pull anyone i want to" 

"yeah, that's because you're crazy hot but your dating game is pretty weak, i know it i've experienced it" rue pressed her lips together 

"wait, dating? we're dating?" leighton sat up straightening her back to match rue's eye level. her stomach did a flip when rue basically impied that the two were in fact dating

"we aren't?" rue followed leighton's actions 

"no, yeah" leighton nodded a small smile tugged at her lips "yeah we are" 

she nodded as she leaned in pressing her lips to rue's softly before she pulled away in a moment. rue connected her forehead to leighton's, the two smiled with their eyes closed. 

after a moment, leighton moved back to where she was and she got comfortable in rue's embrace. 

"you think i am hot?" leighton referred to rue's previous comment 

"what?" 

"you said i pull cuz i am 'crazy hot' you think i am crazy hot?" 

"the crazy part? yes. i don't remember saying hot" rue joked making leighton playfully smack her arm "ow? that hurt. might be bruised by now" 

"i didn't even hit you hard you big dramatic-ass baby"

"i could get used to nickname" rue laughed 

"oh no that wasn't-" leighton sighed in disappointment
