Chapter 6: Lucid

CHAPTER 6

Kinabukasan, nagising na lang ako na tirik na ang araw. 'Di ko namalayan na nakatulog na pala ako sa pagod kagabi.

Buti na lang nakapagsabi na agad ako sa client ko bago umuwi na maliban muna ako ng ilang araw sa trabaho dahil kay Mama.

Nag-inat ako at napahikab. Saglit akong napatulala habang pinapakiramdam ko ang aking paligid.

"Ambanas." wika ko saka pinaypayan ang aking sarili gamit ang mga kamay ko.

I stood up and decided to turn the AC on.

Binubuksan ko lang ang aircon kapag hindi ko na talaga kaya ang init. Anlaki kasi ng kain sa kuryente eh. Although, I have enough money for this kind of expenses, it's still practical to save electricity.

"Knock, knock." rinig kong boses ng lalaki mula sa labas ng kwarto ko.

Teka, parang pamilyar 'yung boses na 'yon ah? Is that...kuya Lucid?!

Halos magtatalon-talon ako habang naglalakad patungo sa may pinto para pagbuksan siya.

I immediately welcomed him with a smile upon seeing him. It's been so long since I last saw him.

"Lulu!" magiliw niyang bati sa akin saka ako hinila para yakapin.

"Aray! Mababali naman leeg ko, kuya." tatawa-tawa kong reklamo pero binawian ko rin siya ng yakap.

"Sorry, sorry. Namiss lang kita." nakangiti niyang turan saka bumitaw sa pagkakayakap sa akin.

"Sus. Kelan ka pa dumating? May pasalubong ka?" I excitedly asked.

"Just earlier. And of course, I wouldn't come home empty handed. Marami akong pasalubong para sa inyong lahat." Nangingiti niyang sabi saka ako iginiya pababa.

Kuya Lucid is a software engineer in Dubai. He rarely goes home so I haven't seen him for years, hence why we miss each other.

Super close namin ni kuya mula pagkabata. He is six years older than me and I was told that when I was born, he immediately became my second father.

Kahit sa pagpapatulog sa akin noong baby pa ako ay siya mismo ang magprepresinta kapag may ginagawa sina Ma o Pa.

He cooks food for me and takes care of me without being told to. He was the best brother I could ever have 'cause he always treats me like a princess.

He showed me the love and affection that I deserved since I was little kaya naman ngayong nasa tamang edad na ako, I am careful enough who to let inside my life.

I really believe kuya Lucid should be the role model for any guy out there. He is just a walking angel. I know for sure that if he ever finds a girl, they'd be dating to walk down the aisle someday.

"Charan!" kuya exuberantly presented all his pasalubong on a big box seated beside the living room table.

My eyes sparkled in pure joy as I spot a familiar figure peeking through the surface of the opened box.

I frantically seated on the floor and grabbed it.

"Omg, it's the kitten lamp! Tagal ko na tong gustong bilhin!" I exclaimed, not hiding my excitement and happiness.

He laughed and pat my head.

"I know, that's why I bought it."

I looked up to him and I almost cried.

"Thank you, kuya. You're the best." I thanked him, teary-eyed.

Tagal ko na talagang gustong bilhin 'tong lamp na 'to. I saw its ad a year ago and even though I checked it on a shopping app, I decided not to buy it because I thought it was a waste of money.
