I fell into a pile of leaves and just kept falling. Through days and decades I dropped, like laughter from the mouth of a child. The confetti of autumn gave way to a movie reel of memory, and it was there that I saw myself, small and full of wonder. The world itself barely existed beyond the yard. It was there I embraced the future and the passage of time-- where I sold my youth for wisdom.
It was only when the cold wind blew, and I found myself laying in the grass, that I knew I had been swindled.
