The Days

50 3 1

Do you remember the days when we were good
And obedient and quiet.
I don't..

When we didn't like our relatives
And they didn't like us...
Now I think they do...

When girls wore pink and boys wore blue
Because the world wasn't modern
And I wasn't yet a feminist.

When they told us people could catch stars
And wouldn't lose their hands.
That we could touch our dreams...

They made us believe the world was good
That no one stole, lied or killed,
And people told the truth.

Nowadays, the world hurts so much
That we shut our eyes against the pain.
So we don't notice

Or ever see.
The death of a childhood.
