"Guess what!" I exclaimed as soon as you opened the doors.
"What?" You sounded excited, quickly closing the door and getting comfortable on the bed. "What is it?"
"I'm getting the surgery in two days!"
You didn't react like I thought you would. Instead, you were silent. "What's wrong?" I asked.
"Does that mean that you'll be able to see soon?"
"Partially, but my eyes will take a few more weeks to fully recover." I was disappointed with your reaction. I had waited an entire day to share the news with you.
You seemed to have noticed, as you quickly wrapped your arms around me. "I'm so happy for you," you said, pulling away. "How do you want to celebrate it?"
"Hmm," I pondered, "let's take a walk, but without the wheelchair."
"That sounds great, but have you forgotten? We shouldn't be seen together." You tucked my hair behind my ear.
I had forgotten about that.
"I'll think of something," you said.
Smiling, I nodded.
